During the symposium, relevant leaders from Eisai China introduced the progress of the company’s “Global Innovation, Local Realization” strategy. Currently, Eisai China has established a rich pipeline of innovative products in key areas such as neuroscience, oncology specialty drugs, and digestive/metabolic diseases. Innovative products like Leqembi® (lecanemab) for early Alzheimer’s disease, Dayvigo® (lemborexant) for insomnia, and Uloric® (febuxostat) for gout with hyperuricemia have been successively launched in China. This year, Leqembi® subcutaneous injection and Lacteol® for diarrhea will also enter the Chinese market, continuously strengthening the product portfolio. With the continuous expansion of its business scale, Eisai China has become a key engine and important pillar driving Eisai’s global innovation and performance growth.

Eisai China stated that the company is actively promoting a capability leap from “introduction” to “transformation,” continuously enhancing the clinical value and patient accessibility of imported drugs in the Chinese market. Currently, the company is actively exploring an integrated solution for the “early screening, early diagnosis, and early treatment” of Alzheimer’s disease. By combining blood test early screening technology, government guidance, and corporate profit concessions, it aims to explore and form a benefit-sharing model of “government support, enterprise participation, and multi-party win-win,” helping to improve the accessibility of diagnosis and treatment for Alzheimer’s patients and tangibly benefiting people’s livelihood.

Cao Hongming affirmed Eisai China’s continuous investment in neuroscience and its introduction of global innovative achievements. He pointed out that biopharmaceuticals are a leading industry prioritized for development in Shanghai. The Municipal Science and Technology Commission will continue to support the R&D, market launch, and international development of innovative drugs and medical devices. He expressed hope that Eisai China would further leverage its role as an “Innovative Drug Introduction Hub” to benefit Chinese patients with more globally leading innovative achievements.

Long Wanli stated that Jing’an District is accelerating the construction of a development pattern of “International Jing’an, Excellent Urban Area,” with life and health being a key industrial direction for the region. The settlement of Eisai China has injected new momentum into the development of Jing’an’s biopharmaceutical industry. Jing’an will make every effort to provide service support, assisting Eisai China in achieving greater development in Jing’an.

Representatives from relevant departments of Jing’an District, including the Science, Technology and Economy Commission; Health Commission; Medical Insurance Bureau; and Market Supervision Administration, conducted exchanges and connections with the enterprise on topics such as industrial policy, clinical application, medical insurance linkage, and compliant development.

Deepening Roots in Jing’an: Building a New High Ground for the Biopharmaceutical Industry

As a globally leading innovative pharmaceutical company, and to better adapt to the group’s strategic development needs, further optimize resource allocation, and enhance management efficiency, Eisai Chuangtuo will serve as an important platform for Eisai China’s innovative business in Shanghai.
