ShanghaiApril 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — This year, April 22 marks the 57th World Earth Day, with the theme “Cherish Natural Resources, Protect Beautiful China,” aiming to inspire deep reflection on the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Last month, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially released the 2025 list of green factories, and Shanghai Totole Food Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Totole) was honored to be included. This significant national recognition serves as a vivid testament to its green transformation journey. Over the years, Totole has never stopped at delivering delicious flavors to consumers but has deeply integrated the brand philosophy of “Creating Shared Value” into every production step. Through extensive exploration in green manufacturing, clean energy, and recycling, it has outlined a green blueprint for high-quality development.
Green Manufacturing Empowers Low-Carbon Transformation, Waste-Free Factory Paints Ecological Foundation
Energy consumption and emission control in the seasoning production process are key benchmarks for measuring a company’s environmental performance.
In terms of energy structure optimization, Totole began purchasing green electricity in 2022 and achieved 100% green electricity usage for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024, injecting clean energy into its production lines.
Regarding equipment upgrades, from 2022 to 2024, Totole replaced and upgraded a series of key energy-consuming equipment, including heat pump units, air conditioning systems, and dryers, saving an average of 1,186 tons of standard coal annually and reducing carbon emissions in the production process. The upgrade of critical equipment such as boiler burners, air compressors, and steam chicken cookers, along with the implementation of a fluidized bed condensate heat recovery project, further reduced steam consumption, ensuring efficient and low-energy operation throughout the process.

In pollution prevention, Totole actively engages in building a “waste-free factory,” strictly controlling various pollutant emissions during production to ensure compliance, and has been included in the Jiading District “Waste-Free Cell” creation list.

Circular Economy Builds a Closed-Loop Ecosystem, Social Responsibility Defines a Long-Term Future
Totole extends its green development philosophy to the upstream of the industrial chain. On the raw material side, Totole jointly launched the “Standardize Matsutake Mushroom Harvesting, Adhere to Sustainable Use” initiative with Nanhua County in Yunnan, committing to harvest matsutake mushrooms without damaging the mycelium, ensuring the sustainable use of precious resources.
In supply chain management, Totole has established a comprehensive green supply chain management system and received the highest five-star rating for “Shanghai Green Supply Chain Management Enterprise” in 2022, along with two authoritative certifications.

Facing the massive packaging consumption in the seasoning industry, Totole strictly follows the 3R1D principle by eliminating cardboard box lamination, switching from dark to light-colored packaging, and using recyclable aluminized bags to replace traditional aluminum foil bags, significantly reducing resource consumption. Currently, the packaging of several products, including Vegetable Delight, Clam Essence, Mushroom Essence, and Three-Fresh Chicken Essence, has been upgraded to recyclable and renewable design packaging. The jar body of Matsutake Mushroom Seasoning uses recyclable tinplate material, and the use of recycled plastic strapping is promoted to minimize plastic usage.
Thanks to this commitment to green practices, Totole has received high recognition from all sectors of society. The eco-friendly packaging of “Vegetable Delight Seasoning” and “Soup Delight Red Sour Soup Hot Pot Base” earned Totole the “2024 14th Meishi Cup Packaging Innovation and Sustainable Development Award – Technological Innovation Award” from New Meishi Media Group. The eco-friendly table and chair set made from recycled composite flexible packaging won the “2023 Blue Star Plan – Sustainable Development Packaging Competition – Recycling and Reuse Solution Award Bronze Award” from the Blue Star Plan Awards Committee. Additionally, Totole received the “2025 Outstanding Green Packaging Leadership Award” and “2025 Green Consumption Leading Brand Award” at the 4th International Green Zero-Carbon Festival, as well as the “2025 Golden Bee China Responsible Competitiveness Model Case” and “ESG Competitiveness Model – Sustainable Development Award” from Golden Bee Think Tank, and was recognized as a “Green Practice Case” by the Shanghai Energy Conservation Association.
Strength in Numbers: Protecting the Freshness of the Table, and the Shared Home
Totole understands that on the path of green transformation, going alone is fast, but going together goes far. In 2021, Totole partnered with Yonghui Supermarket and the China Synthetic Resin Association’s Plastic Recycling Branch (CPRRA) to launch a pilot plastic soft packaging recycling program. This year, Totole deepened its collaboration with Aihuishou, relaunching the “Green Wallet” campaign on World Earth Day, providing consumers with a full-chain participation pathway from “depositing waste packaging → receiving incentives → redeeming for consumption.”

This warm echo extends to the education of the next generation. In 2025, Totole supported the “Today I’m the Chef, Green in the Kitchen” youth practice activity, targeting elementary school students aged 6 to 12 and their families. Through activities such as selecting healthy ingredients, designing green recipes, and hands-on cooking, nearly 3,000 creative culinary works were collected, and Totole was awarded the 2025 “Caring Enterprise Award” by the Shanghai Extracurricular Education Association.
Looking ahead, Totole has set an ambitious goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions together with the group by 2050. From equipment upgrades in the workshop to the recycling and rebirth of packaging materials, and to promoting the recognition and participation of millions of families in green lifestyles, Totole is giving back to the Earth with solid actions. Old items may “return,” but goodwill is always “reborn.” While safeguarding the freshness of consumers’ tables, Totole protects the natural home we all share, responding to the era’s call for ecological protection with concrete actions.
