This four-day sensory competition, which brought together the nation’s top taste experts, ultimately determined the “Best Cup Taster” who will represent China on the world stage.
Authorized by the World Coffee Championships (WCC) and hosted by Shanghai Bohua International Exhibition Co., Ltd., this event is a highly authoritative sensory competition in China’s coffee industry. It aims to discover and honor professional coffee talents with keen flavor perception and standardized quality control skills.
Under strict competition rules, participants had to precisely identify specific flavor profiles among eight coffee samples using their exceptional taste and smell, and complete multiple rounds of high-difficulty flavor matching within a limited time. The event posed a triple challenge to competitors’ sensory sensitivity, flavor memory accuracy, and on-the-spot psychological resilience.
After several intense rounds, Hu Juan claimed the championship with outstanding flavor identification accuracy and consistent performance, earning unanimous recognition from the judging panel. He Yaofeng and Su Ting secured second and third place, respectively, while Huang Weinan finished fourth. Together with other talented coffee professionals, they will showcase the depth and vitality of Chinese coffee on both domestic and international stages.
This year’s champion, Hu Juan, will represent China at the 2026 World Cup Tasters Championship global finals. The event will be held from May 7 to 9, 2026, during the World of Coffee Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand. There, Hu Juan will compete against top cup tasters from around the world, showcasing the professionalism and flavor perception skills of Chinese coffee practitioners.
