The payment service launch ceremony was held in Vietnam on April 23, with representatives from the State Bank of Vietnam, NAPAS, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), and Hana Bank in attendance.
As part of Hana Financial Group’s cross-border business, GLN leads the operation of the payment system connected to Vietnam’s national QR network and drives related technology integration. Hana Bank is the only Korean financial institution approved by the State Bank of Vietnam as a settlement bank for this partnership.
Vietnam’s payment infrastructure is built on the VietQR Global system operated by NAPAS, which fully connects domestic banks and merchants. Through this system integration, GLN enables users of partner applications to access the network, expanding acceptance coverage. The partnership is also expected to empower cross-border use cases, allowing Vietnamese users to scan QR codes for payments in South Korea via local apps.
The service is already available at various everyday merchant locations in popular tourist cities such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City. Users can make payments through partner apps connected to GLN, including major Korean fintech apps like Toss, PurpleGLN, Hana OneQ, Hana Money, and Hana Card, without the need for currency exchange. The service is also expected to expand to platforms such as Naver Pay and KB Banking App.

By connecting to Vietnam’s national QR network, we enable cross-border travelers to use the apps they rely on daily in their home countries for convenient payments without currency exchange. We will continue to lead the development of cardless cross-border payments and cash withdrawal services.”
GLN, a subsidiary of Hana Bank under Hana Financial Group, has already rolled out QR payment and scan-to-cash services in 14 Asian countries, including Vietnam, China, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos, and Japan, with over 200 million QR merchant partners globally. As a leading cross-border payment infrastructure provider in Asia, GLN facilitates cross-border transaction links between users and merchants across multiple markets and has established partnerships with overseas financial platforms such as Moreta Pay in North America, DeCard App in Singapore, Taiwan‘s Taishin Bank, and others.
