ShanghaiApril 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On April 27, 2026, L’Oréal China successfully held its 2025/2026 Annual Development Strategy Communication Meeting under the theme “Grand Beauty, Smart Future.” During the meeting, L’Oréal China announced a comprehensive upgrade of the “Generation to Generation” Tech Girls Empowerment Program, innovatively building an intergenerational empowerment chain of “female scientists + young female tech workers + tech girls.”
This project upgrade is jointly promoted by L’Oréal China in collaboration with the China Women’s Development Foundation and the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The three parties will integrate the advantages of scientific research resources, public welfare platforms, and an international perspective to create a more systematic and sustainable mechanism for empowering women in science. To ensure the long-term development of the project, L’Oréal China has pledged to donate 10 million yuan to the China Women’s Development Foundation over five years to empower women in science.
Françoise Lan, President of Public Affairs for L’Oréal North Asia and China; Nan Jing, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Women’s Development Foundation; and Long Chun, Deputy Director of the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the three parties. Vincent Boinay, President of L’Oréal North Asia and CEO of L’Oréal China, witnessed the launch of the project.

Multiple leaders jointly launch the “Generation to Generation” Tech Girls Empowerment Program
Mechanism Innovation: Empowering Across Generations to Achieve Results
In 1998, L’Oréal and UNESCO launched the “For Women in Science” program, which was introduced to China in 2004. For over 20 years, L’Oréal has consistently leveraged a global perspective and local practices to empower women in science, helping top Chinese female scientists gain international recognition, while also planting the seeds of science in the hearts of more girls through science education and hands-on activities.

Through long-term practice, L’Oréal has deeply recognized that empowering women in science at different stages requires more systematic support. To better unlock the potential of women in science, the new Tech Girls Empowerment Program centers on the concept of “Generation to Generation,” further strengthening deep connections among women in science at various stages. For the first time, the program incorporates young female tech workers from female scientists’ teams into the empowerment system, forming an intergenerational empowerment chain covering “female scientists + young female tech workers + tech girls.” Under the guidance of female scientists and their teams, tech girls will deeply engage in research projects, achieve practical results, and make a breakthrough from “perceiving science” to “practicing science.” Additionally, the research groups led by scientists will receive team incentive funds.
At the same time, the project adopts a multi-dimensional approach of “inviting in, going out, and widespread dissemination,” organizing activities such as scientist lectures on campus, visits to tech scenarios, and co-creation of science videos, allowing more girls to approach, understand, and fall in love with science in real-world contexts.
Enduring Commitment: Building an Empowerment Ecosystem with a Long-Term Vision
This project upgrade marks a strategic deepening for L’Oréal in the field of empowering women in science, moving from “sustained investment” to “systematic co-construction.” Leveraging the top-tier scientists and key high school resources from the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as the national-level women’s public welfare platform advantages of the China Women’s Development Foundation, L’Oréal collaborates with all parties to provide professional recognition and international perspective support for women in science at different stages.
Long Chun, Deputy Director of the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, noted that the new empowerment chain created through this collaboration with L’Oréal injects a continuous source of vitality into the national basic scientific research talent pool, helping girls transition from “seeing science” to “doing science,” allowing curiosity to truly take root and bear fruit. Nan Jing, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Women’s Development Foundation, stated that this tripartite collaboration will better support girls in becoming the backbone of the future scientific field through role modeling and systematic empowerment.
“This upgrade makes L’Oréal’s women’s empowerment chain even stronger,” said Françoise Lan, President of Public Affairs for L’Oréal North Asia and China. “Enabling more tech girls to see role models firsthand and touch science with their own hands is the core mission of ‘Generation to Generation.’ L’Oréal will continue to work with all parties, with a belief in passing the torch, to accompany more women on their steadfast journey in science.”
