Advanced AI vision controller with a modular architecture supports demanding, compute-intensive manufacturing applications without the need for an external PC
Natick, MassachusettsApril 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX), a global leader in industrial machine vision technology, today announced the launch of the In-Sight® 6900 Vision Controller. The modular In-Sight vision controller gives manufacturers the flexibility to precisely configure cameras, optics, and lighting systems based on inspection needs, breaking free from the constraints of fixed-configuration systems. This product leverages NVIDIA Jetson technology to deliver high-capacity AI processing at the edge, enabling the most demanding industrial workloads to run without an external PC or complex distributed architecture.

Cognex In-Sight® 6900 Vision Controller
“As manufacturers accelerate their adoption of AI, they increasingly need solutions that combine powerful performance with ease of deployment,” said Matt Moschner, President and CEO of Cognex. “The In-Sight vision controller is a direct response to this need, combining NVIDIA’s edge AI processing capabilities with Cognex’s modular hardware and proven vision tools. This helps more customers solve demanding inspection applications at the edge without the cost and complexity of PC-based systems, unlocking applications that were previously impossible.”
Advanced AI tools tackle the toughest vision challenges
The In-Sight Vision Controller introduces Cognex’s most advanced AI toolset to date—designed for high-difficulty inspections that handle parts of various sizes, detect highly variable defects, and deliver consistent results even in dynamic and unpredictable production environments.
Key capabilities include:
- Modular vision architecture: Supports flexible interchangeability of cameras, lenses, and industrial lighting for precise system configuration, covering Cognex’s line of lenses, optics, cameras, and accessories (LOCA) product family.
- Few-shot classification: A Transformer-based classification model requiring only 10 to 20 training images, effectively reducing data collection time and accelerating deployment.
- High-robustness segmentation: Pixel-level segmentation technology precisely isolates key features for reliable analysis even under complex surface conditions.
The In-Sight Vision Controller also integrates seamlessly with Cognex’s collaborative AI platform, OneVision™, enabling engineering teams to develop, optimize, and scale inspection applications globally within a unified environment. Manufacturers can drive improvements faster and maintain consistent quality across plants, production lines, and shifts.
Powered by NVIDIA Jetson for real-time, high-throughput AI at the edge
By integrating the NVIDIA Jetson module, the In-Sight Vision Controller evolves from a traditional image processor into a high-performance AI engine, running complex neural networks directly at the edge.
Performance highlights include:
- Parallel processing for complex inspections: Up to 157 TOPS of AI computing power, supporting simultaneous operation of multiple high-resolution AI models.
- Real-time inference: Optimized integration with NVIDIA TensorRT ensures AI decisions are precisely synchronized with the microsecond-level timing of high-speed production lines.
