BeijingMay 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Thanks to relaxed visa-free policies and 240-hour transit arrangements, China is attracting an increasing number of international tourists, making it a top travel destination for foreign visitors to linger, experience cultural charm, and savor delicious cuisine.
With the further relaxation of visa policies, China has now implemented unilateral visa-free entry for passport holders from 50 countries, reached mutual visa exemption agreements with 29 countries, and provided 240-hour transit visa-free convenience for travelers from 55 countries.
The capital city, Beijing, has become one of the must-visit destinations for many foreign tourists, who are eager to experience its long history, check out landmark buildings, and fully immerse themselves in the city’s charm.
One foreign tourist benefiting from the visa-free policy is named Julian. After arriving at Beijing Daxing International Airport, he quickly completed entry procedures through the transit visa-free policy and smoothly entered the country. After handling all formalities at the airport, Julian chose to take the efficient airport express to the city center, avoiding peak-hour traffic congestion over the nearly 45-kilometer journey.
Upon reaching the city center, Julian couldn’t wait to taste Beijing’s most iconic dish—the famous Peking duck. This was also one of the things he had most looked forward to before his trip.
Julian also explored the vibrant areas around the Forbidden City. There, he saw that traditional costume photography is becoming increasingly popular, with more and more people enjoying dressing up in ancient attire for photos.
Beijing continues to optimize services for foreign tourists. Since last year, one-stop service counters have been set up in the international arrival areas of Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport, offering more than 20 basic services in fields such as finance, telecommunications, transportation, and cultural tourism.
This Tuesday, Beijing officially launched a one-stop online service platform called “GO BEIJING,” providing comprehensive convenience services for inbound tourists. Overseas visitors can access the platform through the Alipay international version, enjoying 39 services covering 16 languages, including ride-hailing, ticket booking, and hotel reservations. The platform also offers digital services such as “AI Travel Companion.”
