BerlinMay 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — After more than a month’s hiatus, the FE Formula E World Championship finally delivered an electrifying double-header weekend. Last weekend, FE returned to the Tempelhof Airport Circuit in the German capital, Berlin, for Rounds 7 and 8 of the season.

2026 FE Berlin Round 7: Mueller Claims First Win in 7 Years
In Saturday’s Round 7, multiple drivers took turns leading the pack in a fiercely contested battle. Ultimately, Porsche’s Nico Mueller, driving the “Pink Pig” liveried Porsche 99X Electric, delivered a near-perfect race to claim his first-ever race win in his FE Formula E career, also presenting a significant gift to Porsche Motorsport as it celebrated its 75th anniversary on home soil.
The Swiss driver reached the top step of the podium in his 69th race at the Tempelhof Airport Circuit — prior to this round, he was already the driver with the most laps led this season. DS Penske’s Nick Cassidy finished second — his first return to the podium since his win in Mexico City. Nissan’s reigning Drivers’ World Champion, Oliver Rowland, secured third place on the very track where he once clinched his world title.
This was a race filled with tactical battles, where the use of PIT BOOST caused the lead to change hands multiple times, as engineers sought to balance top speed and energy usage on the unique and challenging surface of the Tempelhof circuit. Starting from sixth on the grid, Mueller stayed within the top ten before his pit stop; after exiting, he pushed hard, activated the 6-minute Attack Mode, overtook the top six drivers, and took the lead on lap 29.
The tactical execution by Porsche and Mueller was flawless. After taking the lead, they not only secured an advantageous track position but also built a 4-second gap and held approximately a 4% energy advantage over their rivals. This advantage was enough for Mueller to bring the victory home smoothly, with second-placed Cassidy unable to close the gap as the laps dwindled. Rowland ultimately finished third. Pole-sitter Edoardo Mortara failed to convert his advantage into a win, finishing fourth, but he continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship. Jake Dennis finished fifth after failing to activate Attack Mode twice, missing out on a podium chance; Mitch Evans finished sixth.

2026 FE Berlin Round 8: Evans Stages Comeback from P17 to Win
Moving to Sunday’s Round 8, the pace intensified further, and the fight for the championship became even more spectacular. Amid the fierce racing at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport Circuit, the mid-season championship standings were filled with suspense. Thrilling attacks and defenses unfolded continuously on track. Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans seized the moment with a crucial overtake, staging a comeback victory from 17th on the grid. Nissan’s Oliver Rowland also charged from 18th on the grid to finish second and reach the podium. Home driver Pascal Wehrlein finished third, reclaiming the top spot in the Drivers’ Championship in front of his home fans.
Starting from 17th, Evans had already advanced to the top six by the end of the first Attack Mode activation, holding more energy reserves than his rivals. His first activation of the 6-minute, 350kW all-wheel-drive Attack Mode allowed him to take the lead on lap 27, from which he controlled the race, building a two-second gap over the chasing pack.
As the race reached its climax, Evans chose to delay his second Attack Mode activation, falling about 2 seconds behind the leader. On lap 32, Evans struck again, executing a key overtake to retake the lead. He then held his nerve to defend the top spot, successfully fending off the challenges from two Drivers’ World Champions, Rowland and Wehrlein, to seal the victory. This was Evans’ 16th race win in FE Formula E, breaking his own previous record for the most wins.
Reigning World Champion Rowland finished second. After taking second place yesterday, the defending champion stepped onto the podium again at the 2026 Berlin E-Prix, achieving a double podium weekend. He is currently the driver with the most trophies this season. After failing to score points yesterday due to a puncture, Wehrlein added another home podium for Porsche and returned to the top of the Drivers’ Championship with his third-place finish.
In the blink of an eye, Season 12 is already halfway through. With this, the FE Formula E Berlin double-header weekend came to a successful close. This city, which has never been absent from the calendar and has accompanied us for 12 seasons, once again witnessed a battle of speed on its unique airport circuit. Two weeks later, on May 16, FE Formula E will move to the racing haven of Monaco for Rounds 9 and 10.
Post-Race Interviews – Round 7:
- Nico Mueller, Porsche: “This is an incredible day. I’m so grateful for this opportunity, and Porsche has given me this trust. It’s an honor to drive this car in front of the home crowd, and to get my first win here in Berlin, on the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport, it doesn’t get any better than this. My family is here — my boys, my wife, our daughter — and I’m really emotional. As you know, when you wear these colors and drive for the Porsche factory team, there’s only one goal: we’re going to fight for all three championships until the final round in London, including the Drivers’ Championship, so we’ll give it our all.”
- Nick Cassidy, DS Penske: “I’m really happy today, it was a fantastic FE race! My team did a great job with communication throughout. I think in these kinds of races, sometimes you have to accept that victory isn’t within reach, but you still want a good result. Today I think I did a better job of that than maybe at Jarama in Madrid, so I’m very happy with our execution. Big congratulations to Nico, he drove brilliantly — I think his pace was unmatched. He fully deserved that win today, and I’m happy for him.”
- Oliver Rowland, Nissan: “Today was very tough. At the start, I was just trying to be efficient, and the pace was okay, but then the Lola car got ahead and upped the tempo. It wasn’t in our plan, and we weren’t very strong on energy. Honestly, I’m very happy with this result. I struggled with the car’s balance for most of the race, but I’m still very pleased; it’s a good result.”
Post-Race Interviews – Round 8:
- Mitch Evans, Jaguar TCS Racing: “This is my 16th career win. Strategically, because we started from the back, we took a bold decision to use a new set of tires. I think that helped, along with being patient in the race and waiting for the right moment. I saw a few drivers around me, like Oliver Rowland, attack early, but the team gave me great guidance to stay patient and go all out in the final stages, and it paid off. All credit goes to the team for getting me this win. I definitely didn’t expect this when I woke up this morning.
“In the car, you have to read the race well and find the feeling, but I have a great team behind me. We did a lot of preparation before and during the race, and it’s not just one person’s effort — it’s a collective one. I think in the GEN3 era over the past few years, whether it was other drivers or myself driving for Jaguar TCS Racing, we’ve been able to be at the front in similar late-race situations. All the praise goes to the team; today was a team victory.” - Oliver Rowland, Nissan: “Last night we were discussing strategy and made a bold decision: not to use new tires in qualifying because we thought having four new tires for the race could be an advantage, while also starting from the back and saving a lot of energy. The tricky part was knowing when to attack. I think we managed to save a lot of energy early on — we found a way to pick our route and move forward. At the end, a small issue with the final Attack Mode activation might have cost me the win, but I’m very happy with the weekend and the second and third places. We’ll push on in Monaco. In terms of single-lap pace, there are still areas I need to improve on myself, trying to extract a bit more from the car, but I think five podiums in eight rounds is a decent start to the season, so I believe we’ll be fighting until the end.”
- Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche: “First of all, today was a great day — I got first in qualifying and made it to the podium. Another good day, a good race with good pace. And Mitch Evans and Oliver Rowland both had new tires for the race, so they didn’t really run in qualifying much, which was an advantage. I was basically the highest-placed driver on used tires, so we’re happy with that.”
2026 FE Formula E Berlin E-Prix Focus on Sustainability
FE Formula E achieved B Corp certification this season, solidifying its position as a benchmark for sustainable innovation in sports. As part of its broader mission to “accelerate sustainable human progress,” the championship continues to support community development and environmental protection.
