Hong KongMay 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Entries are now open for the “Rolex China Sea Race 2028.” The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club has released the Notice of Race, welcoming sailors from around the world to participate in one of the most strategically challenging offshore races.
The Rolex China Sea Race, spanning 565 nautical miles, will commence on March 8, 2028, at Hong Kong’s iconic Victoria Harbour. This year’s race is scheduled for early March to allow the fleet to take advantage of the northeast monsoon, sailing downwind to Subic Bay in the Philippines.
This race is hailed as the premier bluewater classic offshore sailing event in Asia. In 2028, it will mark its 66th anniversary, hosted by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club—a diverse, international, and one of Hong Kong’s oldest and most prestigious sporting clubs. Rolex has partnered with the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club since 2007 and has been the title sponsor of the flagship Rolex China Sea Race since 2008.
In the 2026 edition, Liu Yongfeng’s Ker 42 Custom “Seawolf” claimed the overall IRC championship, becoming the first Chinese mainland boat to achieve this honor; Philip Turner and Chen Weize’s R/P 66 “Team Alive–Rampage” won the line honors.
Duncan Hine, helmsman of “Team Alive–Rampage,” stated that the Rolex China Sea Race is an unmissable event for sailors: “The Rolex China Sea Race is a true test of sailing skills. It’s a race where every fleet—regardless of size—has a chance to work wonders. If you have the opportunity to participate, it’s absolutely worth the effort. As a biennial event, it’s more feasible, and with strong support from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, many onshore preparations become easier, allowing you to focus on the best part—sailing. Chase your dreams.”
