ISTANBULMay 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The newly renovated Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus has officially opened its doors, ushering in a new chapter for this legendary hotel overlooking the Bosphorus Strait. As the longest-operating Hilton hotel outside the Americas, this transformation not only reflects Hilton’s renewed interpretation for contemporary travelers but also continues its profound legacy as Istanbul’s first international hotel, spanning over seven decades.

The hotel returns with a fresh face, seamlessly blending its mid-20th century modernist heritage with contemporary design language, advanced technology, premium event spaces, and curated dining experiences in one of the world’s most culturally rich and vibrant cities, offering guests a renewed stay experience.
Since its opening in 1955, the hotel has been a symbol of modern Turkish hospitality and international glamour, playing a pivotal role in shaping Istanbul’s urban social life. It hosted early large-scale weddings and international events and pioneered traditions like “happy hour” in the city, which became widely popular. To this day, the hotel remains a vital social hub in Istanbul, hosting various business and social gatherings throughout the year.
This renovation embodies a new expression of the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand, cleverly paying homage to the golden age of travel in the 1950s. The upgrade encompasses all 475 guest rooms and suites, introduces diverse dining and social spaces, and adds over 4,000 square meters of event space, continuing its long history as a destination for celebrations, culture, and emotional connections, capable of hosting events of all sizes. The hotel’s iconic outdoor pool remains a central highlight—its shape inspired by the footprint of Hilton founder Conrad Hilton, symbolizing the brand’s expansion from the Americas to the world. Further upgrades to the spa, indoor pool, and fitness facilities will be unveiled this summer.
Simon Vincent CBE, President, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Hilton, said: “Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus is at the very heart of Conrad Hilton’s vision to ‘fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality.’ For over seventy years, it has been an integral part of Istanbul—a unique city that truly connects East and West and brings people together. As the hotel begins a new chapter, we are incredibly proud to see it reimagined for the future while remaining a powerful symbol of Hilton’s long-standing commitment to the Turkish market.”
Leonard Gooz, Global Brand Head, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, said: “Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus is one of our most iconic hotels, with roots tracing back to Conrad Hilton himself. It has long been a vital part of the Hilton brand story—a place where the city’s energy comes alive through celebrations, emotional connections, and memorable stays. With this renovation, we build upon its rich heritage, blending modern design with vibrant social experiences to continue shaping how guests and locals experience Istanbul for years to come.”
Preserving Classic Memories with Iconic Architectural Language

The hotel was originally designed by the globally renowned Chicago architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in collaboration with Turkish architectural master Sedad Hakki Eldem. This renovation, led by Istanbul-based design studio Autoban, reinterprets the classic 1950s DNA from a contemporary perspective, blending modernist spirit with Turkish traditional craftsmanship, art, and poetic expression.
Original architectural elements designed by Sedad Hakki Eldem remain an essential part of the hotel’s identity, including the “flying carpet”-like entrance canopy, the hotel’s outdoor pool—still the largest in Istanbul—and the handcrafted “Çintemani” tiles adorning the hotel walls. Details throughout the hotel subtly reinterpret history—from art installations showcasing the original 1955 logo to traditional Turkish motifs symbolizing abundance and protection in the lobby. Soft curves inspired by Istanbul’s seven hills and nods to the city’s iconic domed architecture shape a fluid and layered experience in the public spaces.
Guest rooms and suites are equally infused with local character, with interior color palettes inspired by the hues of the Bosphorus Strait and the colors of an Istanbul sunrise. Carefully selected natural materials like marble, wood, metal, and leather create a warm and elegant space. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies, and terraces frame views of the city skyline, the Bosphorus, and the hotel’s extensive gardens.
Immersive In-Room Experience from City Spirit to Private Sanctuary
The hotel’s four meticulously crafted signature suites each tell a unique chapter of its history. The Imperial Suite, located beneath the building’s iconic dome, pays tribute to Cloud 9, Istanbul’s first disco, once housed in the hotel. The suite features a private cinema space, honoring the hotel’s cinematic legacy as a frequent stay for Hollywood stars over the years.
The Bosphorus Suite is designed with the serene tones of the strait; the Presidential Suite defines its space with expansive, breathtaking views of the Bosphorus. The Ambassador Suite pays homage to the world leaders and cultural luminaries who have stayed at the hotel over the decades.
A Comprehensive Culinary Revival Centered on Flavor
The dining experience is central to the hotel’s renovation, re-establishing it as one of Istanbul’s most vibrant social hubs where conversation, culture, and flavor converge throughout the day. This spirit stems from Turkey’s deep-rooted hospitality traditions: after experiencing the local custom of welcoming guests with coffee and liqueur, Conrad Hilton introduced the “Welcome Coffee” ritual here, which eventually became a signature gesture at Hilton hotels worldwide.
The hotel’s signature fine dining restaurant, Malva, leads the culinary experience, reimagining overlooked local recipes with modern techniques and seasonal ingredients, bringing Turkish culinary culture to life in a contemporary context.
Sazzou offers an intimate late-night bar space where curated vinyl records, live jazz performances, and masterful mixology harmoniously blend, echoing the legends of musicians who have performed and stayed at the hotel.
Located at the heart of the hotel, Lalou (meaning “pleasant chat”) is a refined lobby dining and wine terrace designed for socializing. Inspired by the hotel’s early glamorous era, jewel-like details cleverly pay homage to the sapphire necklace worn by Sophia Loren during her visit to the hotel. Paired with exquisite desserts, small bites, and creative cocktails, it invites guests to linger and soak in the atmosphere.
Arlo creates a modern dining space inspired by Istanbul’s seven hills, blending coastal flavors from Turkey, Greece, and Italy, guided by a philosophy of sustainable dining.
A classic in Istanbul’s dining scene, Dragon offers authentic Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine. In summer, the restaurant opens to the garden, offering views of the Bosphorus; in winter, it transitions to a cozy indoor dining space.
Set around the pool, Bosolei captures the relaxed elegance of the French Riviera. Sunny days unfold with wood-fired cuisine, selected wines, and signature cocktails, featuring private cabanas for an upgraded poolside resort experience.
Istanbul’s Most Influential Landmark for Celebrations and Events
The hotel boasts over 4,000 square meters of event space, including the Ambassador Ballroom and the divisible Connie Ballroom, accommodating up to 2,500 guests in total, solidifying its position as a top choice for important events in Istanbul. Event spaces also include an outdoor garden venue for up to 500 guests and 17 meeting rooms, making it ideal for both social and business events.
A Garden Oasis in the Heart of the Bustling City
Nestled within expansive gardens in the Harbiye district, the hotel offers a tranquil escape from the city’s fast pace. Just steps away are the cultural and social hub of Beyoğlu and the vibrant Nişantaşı district, known for its boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.
