A new expression of the Nobu lifestyle comes to an historic English county, rooted in nature, wellness, and escape
NEW YORK, May 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Nobu Hospitality is pleased to announce plans to partner with Woolfox to create a unique new destination, marking the arrival of a Nobu hotel, restaurant, and a collection of branded residences set within 185 acres of England’s picturesque countryside.
Located in the heart of Rutland, near the Georgian town of Stamford, the project represents the first concept in Nobu Hospitality’s portfolio shaped by nature, space, and a slower pace of life—a rural retreat. The development blends Nobu’s signature luxury hospitality, world-class dining, and refined living, offering members, guests, and residents the opportunity to disconnect from the rhythm of daily life and reconnect with the landscape, seasons, and restorative power of the outdoors, while marking the brand’s thoughtful evolution into a sophisticated countryside escape.
The Nobu Woolfox project will include lake-view guest rooms and suites, the iconic Nobu restaurant and bar, curated food and beverage spaces, a spa, and a collection of branded residences, creating a new luxury lifestyle destination in the English countryside. The offering also includes extensive wellness and leisure facilities, including a dedicated spa, swimming pool, and gym, as well as landscaped grounds designed to make the most of the Woolfox environment. Nobu Woolfox will be positioned as a destination and members’ club, offering a unique rural setting with convenient access.
Rutland has become an increasingly popular destination, renowned for its unspoiled landscapes, historic English villages, and market towns, with outdoor activities centered around Rutland Water, one of Europe’s largest man-made reservoirs. The area offers direct access to scenic walking and cycling trails, as well as sailing, watersports, and fly fishing, providing a rich connection to the outdoors, while nearby Stamford and Burghley House further enhance its appeal as a year-round destination. Situated centrally, Woolfox is within one to two hours’ drive from major cities such as London, Cambridge, Birmingham, and Manchester, offering both the feel of a rural retreat and convenient access to key commercial and cultural hubs.
“This is a truly special location in the heart of England, surrounded by rolling historic landscapes and quintessential English countryside,” said Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality. “For the first time in our portfolio, we have the opportunity to create a unique countryside retreat experience at Nobu Woolfox—offering all the hallmarks of Nobu, but in an environment defined by nature, tranquility, and a sense of escape. We look forward to working closely with Woolfox to envision and curate a truly distinctive English countryside destination.”
Chris Riddle, Co-Founder of Woolfox, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Nobu to bring its first countryside destination to a truly special place in the English countryside. From the beginning, our dream for Woolfox has been to create a place where people can slow down, reconnect, and spend meaningful time together, away from the pace of daily life. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter in that journey. Nobu is world-renowned not only for its exceptional cuisine but also for the care, warmth, and attention it brings to every guest’s experience.
“Our shared vision is to create something truly special—experiencing the magic of Nobu in a tranquil rural setting, offering each visitor a rare, memorable, and deeply personalized experience.”
The project reflects the ongoing demand for experience-driven destinations that blend hospitality, wellness, dining, and living in unique settings. With this new development, Nobu Hospitality and Woolfox aim to introduce a new expression of the Nobu lifestyle—not the energy of the city, but the serene luxury of the countryside.
