Cambridge, MassachusettsMay 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Nona Biosciences, a global biotechnology company advancing biopharmaceutical research through innovative technology platforms, today announced the appointment of Dr. Josh Xiao as Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Xiao will be based in both China and the United States, reporting directly to Dr. Di Hong, Chief Executive Officer of Nona Biosciences.
In this role, Dr. Xiao will be responsible for shaping Nona Biosciences’ global scientific strategy and driving the continuous evolution and upgrade of the company’s technology platforms, particularly the AI-powered drug discovery platform Hu-mAtrIxTM. His efforts aim to strengthen the company’s long-term competitive advantage through systematic integration of technological capabilities and ecosystem collaboration. He will also lead the direction of scientific innovation, supporting the company’s development of novel therapies across multiple disease areas. Additionally, Dr. Xiao will lead Nona’s global project leader team, establishing a clear, scalable capability-building system to enhance project execution efficiency, deepen scientific understanding of partner needs, and achieve efficient synergy of platform resources.
Dr. Xiao brings over 25 years of drug discovery and management experience in both large biopharmaceutical companies and emerging biotech startups. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University and completed postdoctoral research at Columbia University. Prior to joining Nona Biosciences, Dr. Xiao served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at RA Ventures, the healthcare incubator of RA Capital, and co-founded Starfish Medicines. Earlier in his career, he held scientific leadership roles at Amgen, Tularik (later acquired by Amgen), and Millennium Pharmaceuticals (later acquired by Takeda), and led drug discovery efforts at several startup companies. His expertise spans target discovery and validation, antibody discovery and engineering, translational medicine, and IND filings.
