First Glimpse of the Rift in Reality
The Multiverse is heading toward an ultimate showdown—the storyline that began three years ago in Throne of Eldraine reaches its epic conclusion in the Rift in Reality. After the final confrontation in Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Jace is determined to reshape the entire Multiverse according to his own ideals. Players will see classic characters like Chandra and Garruk return in twisted, unique new forms, offering a different narrative experience. Magic: The Gathering once again joins forces with Middle-earth to introduce the Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit series, which will launch globally on August 14, 2026.
Players will follow in the footsteps of Bilbo Baggins, setting out from the Shire on an adventure to the Lonely Mountain. This series aims to perfectly capture the childlike wonder and warmth of the classic fantasy work *The Hobbit*. In the game, players will encounter trolls, solve puzzles in the dark, and face the dragon Smaug—all brought vividly to life through Magic’s unique gameplay mechanics and meticulous design.

Magic: The Gathering’s lead designer, Mark Rosewater, officially announced a new collectible card game—MOOD SWINGS—which has been in development for nearly thirty years.

This game is designed to be lighthearted and easy to pick up, a light strategy card game for 2-4 players. Each box contains 45 random cards, ready to play straight out of the box without the need for additional deck building, significantly lowering the entry barrier. MOOD SWINGS combines the collectibility and variety of traditional trading card games with fast-paced gameplay (each game takes only 5-10 minutes), balancing fun and convenience. The game will be available exclusively on the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair website starting June 1.
