Wacom Unveils Wacom Art Pen 2: Next-Generation Pen with 360° Barrel Rotation for Digital Artists
Barrel Rotation Sensing for Agile Control
The new Wacom Art Pen 2 (ACP70000DZ) builds on the original Wacom Art Pen (KP701E), retaining the 360° barrel rotation sensing feature and integrating this technology into Wacom’s latest pressure-sensitive pen technology. When used with compatible brushes and cursors, this pen not only senses pressure and tilt angle but also recognizes the rotation angle and direction of the barrel with supporting software. Wacom Art Pen 2 allows artists to freely adjust brush shape, line thickness, and texture at different angles simply by rotating the pen in their hand—just as traditional artists adjust the angle of pencils, flat brushes, felt-tip markers, or calligraphy pens to achieve varied effects. This intuitive control delivers a more natural and fluid drawing experience, highly replicating the rich expressiveness of traditional drawing tools.
“For years, the Wacom Art Pen has been beloved by artists for its unique feel and rich expressiveness. In developing the Art Pen 2, we carefully listened to the enthusiastic feedback from the artist community, refined the features they love, and integrated that familiar experience into our latest pressure-sensitive pen technology,” said Koji Yano, Senior Vice President of the Creative Experience Business Unit at Wacom. “By incorporating these features into existing devices, we aim to give creators greater freedom to bring their artistic visions to life.”
Smart Design Tailored for Artists
The Wacom Art Pen 2 utilizes Wacom’s battery-free EMR electromagnetic resonance technology and is equipped with three side buttons on the pen, helping to streamline the creative workflow and minimize interruptions. With up to 8,192 levels of fine, natural pressure sensitivity, the pen enables smooth and precise control, whether for delicate sketches or bold, dynamic strokes. The built-in pen holder inside the barrel stores three spare nibs for quick and easy replacement.
New Nib Options for Authentic Drawing Feel
Three newly developed nib types are available for the Wacom Art Pen 2: Art Pen 2 Carbon Shaft POM nib, Art Pen 2 POM nib, and Art Pen 2 Felt nib, each meticulously designed to offer a unique drawing feel. The pen comes pre-installed with the Art Pen 2 Carbon Shaft POM nib at the tip. These nibs are exclusive to the Wacom Art Pen 2 and are not interchangeable with those of the Wacom Pro Pen 3.
Compatibility
The Wacom Art Pen 2 (ACP70000DZ) is currently compatible with the Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14, the eighth-generation Wacom Intuos Pro (PTK470/PTK670/PTK870), the Wacom Cintiq 16 (DTK168), Wacom Cintiq 24 (DTK246), and Wacom Cintiq 24 touch (DTH246).
