Black Sesame Intelligent Huashan A2000U and A2000X Obtain ISO 26262 ASIL-D Highest Functional Safety Certification

ShanghaiMay 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Recently, Black Sesame Technologies, a leader in intelligent vehicle computing chips, announced that its Huashan A2000U and A2000X high-performance computing chips, designed for all-scenario general-purpose intelligent driving, have become the first to pass the ISO 26262:2018 ASIL-D functional safety product certification issued by the internationally renowned certification body SGS-TÜV Saar. ISO 26262 is a globally recognized standard for automotive functional safety and is one of the core entry requirements for electronic component suppliers entering the automotive industry. ASIL is divided into four levels from A to D, with Level D representing the highest safety requirements. Obtaining this highest-level product certification signifies that the A2000U and A2000X have reached the highest automotive-grade safety standards in terms of system design, hardware architecture, and safety mechanisms.


The Huashan A2000 family includes four models: A2000N, A2000L, A2000U, and the flagship model A2000X. Among them, the A2000U is a chip for all-scenario general-purpose intelligent driving, targeting “smart” advanced driver assistance systems based on the new AI paradigm, providing 700 TOPS of equivalent computing power per chip. The flagship model A2000X further increases computing power to 1000 TOPS equivalent, targeting anthropomorphic AI drivers, L3 autonomous driving, and Robotaxi scenarios, enabling high-level all-scenario general-purpose intelligent driving.

Both chips are equipped with the self-developed Jiushao NPU architecture, supporting full-link mixed-precision computing including INT4, INT8, FP8, FP16, and FP32, and feature hardware acceleration for Transformer-based models, delivering extremely fast Transformer processing capabilities. In terms of functional safety design, both adopt a proprietary “3L” SoC functional safety architecture, combined with a SafetyNPU supporting redundancy checks, achieving a trinity of intra-core verification, hardware isolation, and process certification. This provides real-time monitoring for each computation step and ensures that faults do not spread through chip-level physical hard isolation.

In addition to the two chips passing the ASIL-D product certification, Black Sesame Technologies had previously obtained the ISO 26262:2018 ASIL-D functional safety process certification from SGS, becoming one of the few domestic companies to pass this certification ahead of schedule with excellent zero-deviation results. Its self-developed Shanhai AI toolchain has also passed the SGS ISO 26262:2018 TCL3 certification, further strengthening its full-stack functional safety capabilities from chips to toolchains and algorithms.
