QinhuangdaoMay 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On May 26, 2026, the Second Beach Public Art Season grandly opened at the Rush Sea Resort in Qinhuangdao, Hebei. Themed “Together,” this art season transforms the 3-kilometer pristine sandy coastline into a natural exhibition hall, bringing together sculptures, installations, and interactive works by outstanding domestic and international artists, presenting a 24-hour non-stop public art scene.
On the day of the event, hundreds of guests, artists, media representatives, and tourists witnessed the opening ceremony, which deeply integrated art with nature, and humanity with vacation.

Responding to Gathering with “Together,” Paying Tribute to Vacation with Art
At 10 a.m., the theme forum “Art’s ‘Time at Sea,'” a major opening highlight of this art season, was held first. Mao Wencai, founder of Purple Roof Public Art; the participating artist collective Moradavaga; Bao Yifeng, co-founder of ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair; internationally renowned architect Gary Chang, founder of EDGE Design Institute Ltd.; and Liu Zhi, Managing Director of Rush Sea Resort, gathered for an in-depth roundtable discussion on “New Scenarios for Artistic Practice in the Public Context: What Cultural Experiences Do We Need in 2026?” The guests engaged in intellectual exchanges on five core topics: the initial context of public art, innovative practices by institutions and brands, how art truly reaches the public, the systematic construction from cultural activities to cultural brands, and the long-term value and emotional restoration of art in public spaces. Together, they explored new paths and possibilities for public art in the new era to step out of exhibition halls, move toward the coast, and integrate into daily life, setting an intellectual tone for this art season that balances academic depth with public warmth.

At 3 p.m., the opening ceremony officially began on the main stage by the coast. The Rao band kicked off the event with an opening performance titled “Musical Spirits of the Coast” — the ethereal sounds of the handpan, the deep tones of the didgeridoo, the Eastern charm of the zhongruan, and the atmospheric textures of the synthesizer intertwined in the sea breeze, providing an immersive auditory experience for the audience.
Liu Zhi, Managing Director of Rush Sea Resort, stated in his speech: “Last year, we grew inward through ‘Tracing Back’; this year, we meet outward with ‘Together.’ The tide is both the pulse of the sea and the surge of people gathering. At Rush Sea, vacation is not just about physical relaxation but also spiritual enrichment. We hope every guest who comes here can gain a transcendent spiritual resonance through the harmony of art and nature.”
Mao Wencai, founder of Purple Roof Public Art, shared the curatorial philosophy: “This art season views public art as a medium of ‘connection’ — connecting people to people, people to nature, and individual experiences to shared memories. The coast is no longer a static backdrop but a field where shared experiences occur.”

Multiple Artist Works Unveiled, Interactive Experiences Throughout
This art season specially invited multiple artists to present their works.
Joy Brown brings soft, intimate, and joyful artistic experiences to public spaces;
Moradavaga uses interactive installations as a medium, waiting for audiences to approach, touch, and walk through — the works are truly completed through participation;
Cai Zebin draws inspiration from everyday experiences and local memories, transforming familiar imagery into psychological landscapes imbued with absurdity and humor;
Wan Duoyun, with exaggerated proportions and childlike symbols, creates a “dream world” within the Anchor Station art gallery that visitors can traverse, allowing audiences to embark on a childlike adventure among moons, stars, and giant eyes.
More artists’ works await you on the beach, lawns, and indoors, inviting you to encounter and spark more inspiration with art.
After the opening ceremony, artists and the curatorial team launched an “Art Appreciation Tour,” leading guests along the beach to interpret the creative stories behind each work. Many tourists paused, photographed, and interacted with the works, as art coexisted with the tides, sunlight, and sea breeze, truly becoming part of the vacation experience.

A 24-Hour Unfenced Beach Art Mime, Lasting All Summer
As a key practice of Rush Sea Resort’s “Humanities-Shared Coastal Gathering Place” strategy, this Beach Public Art Season breaks the boundaries of traditional art museums, with all works free and open to the public. Visitors can stroll along the beach at any time, converse with sculptures, observe the subtle changes in the works as the tides ebb and flow, and experience a never-ending art mime.

During the art season, a series of activities will be launched, including artist-themed workshops, Wan Duoyun’s indoor solo exhibition “Falling into a Dream,” open co-creation labs, and art walks, continuously creating surprise moments for tourists to “encounter art during their vacation.” In the future, Rush Sea will continue to empower vacation life with art, building the Beach Public Art Season into an annual cultural IP with international influence, making this coast a stage for inspiration and a harbor for emotional resonance.
The Second Rush Sea Beach Public Art Season officially opened to the public on May 26, 2026, and will run until October 2026. Tourists and art enthusiasts are warmly welcome to visit Rush Sea, where amidst the sound of the tides and the interplay of light and shadow, they can experience the dual arrival of art and vacation.
