From May 25 to 29, 2026, Bühler Group’s CEO and CSO visited China. The visit covered Wuxi, Changzhou, and Shanghai, focusing on strengthening strategic alignment with local teams, deepening engagement with customers and partners, and exploring new growth opportunities, further underscoring China’s status as one of Bühler’s key strategic markets.

Commenting on the significance of the visit, Bühler Greater China President He Junhui stated: “We are very grateful that the CEO and CSO made a special trip to China and continue to prioritize close connections with local teams, customers, and partners. China is not only a cornerstone of Bühler’s global strategy but also a key market brimming with innovation vitality, rapid development, and new growth opportunities. Through the joint efforts of the group and local teams to continuously expand new technologies and applications, as well as deeper collaboration closer to customers and partners, we are confident in jointly forging the next growth curve.”

China: A Key Driver of Bühler’s Future Growth Curve

Bühler’s development has long been closely intertwined with the rise of China’s industry. During exchanges with the Greater China management team, the CEO reviewed how the group’s early growth benefited from China’s market expansion and related industrial development. He noted that many traditional industries are gradually entering a mature phase, with the “S-curve” approaching saturation, leading companies into a period of “intensive cultivation,” which demands higher standards of operational excellence, customer service, and long-term partnerships.

This marks Samuel Schär’s 55th visit to China and his first since assuming the role of Group CEO. During the visit, he further clarified development priorities, helped the team build consensus on key directions, and once again emphasized China’s crucial position in the group’s strategy, as well as the group’s long-term commitment and investment in the Chinese market and team. At the same time, he pointed out that emerging fields such as new energy, semiconductors, biological solutions, and AI-driven applications are becoming important engines for the future growth curve.

Showcasing Manufacturing Strength and Intelligent Transformation Capabilities

During the visit, the CEO and CSO toured Bühler’s manufacturing bases in Wuxi and Changzhou, gaining in-depth insights into local production capabilities and operational performance.

At the Wuxi plant, the automated foundry workshop was a key focus. The CEO paid close attention to the RGV system and automation upgrades in the casting process. The orderliness, cleanliness, and efficiency of production operations left a strong impression, with high automation levels and rigorous operational execution standing out as highlights.

At the Changzhou plant, the CEO commended the factory’s continuously strengthened technical expertise and large-scale manufacturing capabilities in feed processing equipment. He also focused on the GD project, recognizing progress in advancing multiple continuous electrode slurry mixing production lines for major battery customers in China, and highly praised the performance of related equipment in advanced process applications and large-scale efficient manufacturing. The CSO, who had last visited during the plant’s opening in 2017, returned to Changzhou and highly commended the sustained development in production layout, manufacturing capabilities, and product portfolio, while also appreciating the team’s collaborative and cohesive atmosphere.

Today, the Wuxi and Changzhou plants are increasingly demonstrating the results of deep integration between lean principles and digital technology. By introducing artificial intelligence, automation, and data-driven operational management into manufacturing scenarios, Bühler China continuously improves efficiency, quality stability, and supply responsiveness, maintaining resilience and execution capability in complex and changing production environments.

Based on the transformation philosophy of “people-oriented, lean-based, technology-driven,” this practice not only enhances the operational performance of individual plants but also gradually positions Bühler China as an important benchmark for intelligent transformation within the group’s global manufacturing system. The visits to Wuxi and Changzhou indicate that Bühler China not only possesses a solid manufacturing foundation but is also continuously strengthening its demonstrative value in the global manufacturing network.

Deepening Long-Term Cooperation with Government and Local Partners

A key highlight of the visit was a high-level government meeting in Wuxi on May 27. Wuxi Municipal Party Committee Secretary Du Xiaogang met with the CEO and CSO, joined by Wuxi Deputy Mayor Zhang Zhen, Wuxi High-tech Zone Party Working Committee Secretary and District Party Committee Secretary Cui Rongguo, and Wuxi Industrial Group Party Committee Secretary and Board Chairman Yao Zhiyong. This high-level meeting fully reflected the Wuxi municipal government’s strong emphasis on Bühler Group and the long-term cooperative relationship between both parties.

This meeting built on the consensus reached after a previous Wuxi delegation visited Bühler Group headquarters, with in-depth discussions on future-oriented strategic cooperation. Based on the long-term cooperation foundation established since Bühler began operations in Wuxi in the 1990s, both sides engaged in thorough discussions on consolidating existing achievements and expanding cooperation into new areas.

Looking ahead, both parties will combine Wuxi’s cluster advantages in industries such as integrated circuits with Bühler’s technical strengths in optical coating equipment and advanced manufacturing to further deepen cooperation in fields like semiconductors, precision optics, and consumer electronics, jointly driving innovation and industrial upgrading.

At the same time, Bühler also held exchanges with Wuxi Industrial Group. Based on their long-term cooperation foundation, both sides expressed their intention to actively explore and promote collaboration in high-end technology and semiconductor-related industries.

This series of exchanges reflects Bühler’s long-term commitment to the Chinese market and also indicates China’s ongoing transformation and upgrading into an innovation collaboration and industrial cooperation platform.

Driving the Next Growth Curve with Innovation

One of the key consensuses reached during this visit is that Bühler must continuously evolve its capabilities in line with market changes. As traditional businesses gradually enter a mature phase, new growth opportunities are constantly emerging in rapidly developing industries.

Fields such as semiconductors, new energy, biological solutions, and artificial intelligence are reshaping the future industrial landscape and becoming important directions for Bühler’s next phase of growth.

At the same time, China’s rapid development in digital and AI technologies is accelerating the transformation and upgrading of various industries. Whether in customer application scenarios or within Bühler’s own manufacturing and operational systems, these technologies are continuously driving improvements in efficiency, quality, and competitiveness.

From this perspective, the visit was not only a review of current operations but also a further clarification of key directions for Bühler’s future growth.

Looking Ahead: Strengthening Confidence and Joint Development

Through this visit, the CEO and CSO further strengthened strategic alignment with the team and deepened interactions with government, customers, and partners, bringing new insights for the Greater China region’s future development and consolidating confidence in long-term growth among all parties.

Going forward, the Greater China team will continue to align with the 2030 growth strategy, translating the consensus, momentum, and cooperative relationships formed during this visit into concrete actions.

China is not only one of Bühler’s most important markets but also a key engine driving innovation and transformation. Against the backdrop of continuous development in semiconductors, AI, and digitalization, China will continue to provide critical support for Bühler’s future growth and global competitiveness.

This visit once again demonstrates that Bühler’s long-term success will be built on strong partnerships, operational excellence, and the ability to jointly forge the next growth curve.
