- Became one of the first organizations globally to complete the CMMI AI Maturity pilot assessment
BENGALURU, IndiaJune 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Infosys (NSE, BSE, NYSE: INFY), a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting with an AI-first approach, today announced that it has successfully completed the pilot assessment for the CMMI AI Maturity (AIM) framework and made significant contributions to its development. The assessment was conducted by the CMMI Institute (CMMI® Institute), a global authority that helps organizations reduce risk, improve performance, and build capabilities. Through this collaboration, Infosys helped advance the CMMI AIM framework, contributing deep insights into enterprise AI governance, responsible deployment, and outcome-driven practices that have helped define the standards for how global enterprises assess and implement AI maturity. Infosys is among the first organizations globally to complete this pilot assessment, demonstrating its structured and responsible approach to scaling AI across enterprise software engineering, agentic capabilities, and service delivery.

The CMMI AIM framework enables organizations to assess, benchmark, and improve how they implement AI in real-world enterprise and regulatory environments, linking AI practices and governance to measurable, scalable outcomes. As an early pilot participant, Infosys validated and identified key elements of the framework for refinement by applying it in large-scale delivery environments—ensuring the model reflects the realities of enterprise AI adoption, rather than isolated experiments. Infosys’ participation in this pilot builds on its broader commitment to AI-first software engineering, leveraging its purpose-built, composable, and open agentic service suite, Infosys Topaz Fabric, to put AI into practice in internal processes and client services, thereby unlocking AI value at scale.
This recognition from the CMMI Institute is a testament to Infosys’ years of effort in building mature, scalable, enterprise-grade AI capabilities through disciplined execution, governance, and continuous improvement.
As part of the pilot, Infosys worked closely with the CMMI Institute and KPMG to jointly validate how AI maturity can be consistently assessed across large, complex organizations. The pilot assessment covered AI-enhanced software development, maintenance, testing, and support projects across Infosys’ business lines and global delivery centers. The assessment examined how AI is integrated into the full software engineering lifecycle, with a focus on productivity, quality, governance, and responsible AI practices. Infosys provided actionable implementation insights during the CMMI AIM pilot, reinforcing an actionable, enterprise-oriented approach to AI maturity that can be adopted by organizations worldwide. This collaboration helped shape key dimensions of the emerging CMMI AIM model, including: alignment of performance and business outcomes, consistency of AI practices, risk and compliance management, and accountability in AI-driven decision-making—thereby establishing benchmarks that can be adopted by global enterprises.
Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President and Chief Delivery Officer at Infosys, said: “The CMMI AIM pilot marks a significant step in our journey to unlock the true value of AI. As one of the first organizations to pilot the CMMI AIM framework and contribute to its content and assessment methodology, we are defining the standards for responsible, enterprise-grade AI adoption in practice. Through Infosys Topaz, our sustained investment in AI maturity—spanning governance, productivity, and outcomes—provides clients with a proven, structured path to realize AI value at scale. This milestone further reinforces our position as a standard-setter for enterprise AI and governance, setting a benchmark for the future of the industry.”
Ron Lear, Vice President of Global Strategy at the CMMI Institute, said: “As AI becomes an integral part of software engineering and virtually every other discipline, business leaders need to focus on AI governance, assurance, and predictability of performance. Infosys brought a deep and practical perspective to the CMMI AIM pilot, reflecting the real-world realities of deploying AI at scale in global enterprises. Their participation and successful completion of the pilot assessment provided valuable insights and validated the effectiveness of CMMI AIM best practices, which will help organizations around the world adopt AI in a more structured, responsible, mature, and outcome-focused manner.”
Dr. Sankaran Venkataramani, Partner, Business Consulting, Enterprise Services at KPMG, said: “The CMMI AIM pilot represents a significant step forward in enterprise AI maturity assessment and implementation practices. Infosys’ successful completion of the CMMI AIM pilot reflects how AI can be integrated into engineering and delivery services, paired with the controls and oversight mechanisms needed to operate at scale. It embodies a mature balance, enhancing productivity while addressing quality, risk management, and accountability.”
