HONG KONGJune 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — HYROX, the global leading fitness competition, today officially announced that the 2027 PUMA HYROX World Championships will be held in Hong Kong. The event will take place from June 10 to 13, 2027, at the AsiaWorld-Expo, marking its debut in the Asia-Pacific region.
The decision to host the HYROX World Championships in Hong Kong holds special significance, as the first HYROX event in the Asia-Pacific region was held here in 2022. In just four years, the local market has grown rapidly. Compared to the inaugural event with fewer than 1,000 participants, the sixth edition of the Hong Kong event held this May saw an enthusiastic response, attracting nearly 20,000 competitors. The year-on-year expansion of the event not only demonstrates that the Hong Kong leg has become an internationally influential fitness competition, but also fully showcases Hong Kong’s capability to host major international sports events.
At the same time, HYROX is gradually transforming how the public engages with fitness competitions, drawing more and more people into the sport. The 2025/26 season was held in 95 cities worldwide, attracting over 1.5 million participants—a record high—and the new season is expected to exceed 2 million participants. Among the millions of competitors, only the top 0.5% will qualify for the World Championships, heading to Hong Kong to vie for the world champion title.
As the annual highlight of the HYROX season, the PUMA HYROX World Championships in Hong Kong is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the city. Spanning several days, the event not only gathers the world’s top athletes but also attracts a large number of age-group participants, making it an international fitness gathering that combines elite competition with mass participation. The 2026 PUMA HYROX World Championships, to be held in Stockholm this year, is expected to attract over 1 million viewers worldwide.
