Alfred Ramosedi Appointed as the 93rd President of CIMA and Co-Chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants

The future of the finance and accounting profession will be built on trust, innovation, and opportunity

SHANGHAIJune 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, today announced the election of Alfred Ramosedi, FCMA, CGMA, as its 93rd President. He will also serve as the 11th Co-Chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association), the global alliance formed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and CIMA. Dr. Matthew Hansard, FCMA, CGMA, was elected as CIMA Vice President.


During his tenure as President, Alfred will focus on shaping the future of the finance and accounting profession, elevating trust as the most important value foundation of the profession, driving the industry into a new phase empowered by artificial intelligence (AI), and creating more development opportunities for the next generation of talent. He will work alongside Association Chair Jan Lewis, CPA, CGMA, to lead the global profession through this era of rapid change and redefine its role in business and society.

Alfred brings over three decades of leadership experience in South Africa’s financial and professional services sectors. He joined Nedbank, one of South Africa’s four largest banks, in 1995 and held various senior and management roles over the following 15 years. In 2008, Alfred was appointed Managing Director of Nedbank Private Banking, before joining Absa Group in 2010 and African Bank in 2012 in key positions. In 2017, he became CEO of Bayport Financial Services South Africa, a company within a leading financial services group focused on promoting responsible consumer credit and financial wellness in emerging markets.

Alfred has been actively involved in volunteer work for CIMA for many years. In 1998, he joined the Gauteng Branch in Johannesburg, South Africa, as Secretary, and was elected Chair of the South Africa Committee in 1999. In 2000, he played a key role in establishing the Southern Africa Committee and served as its inaugural Chair from 2002 to 2009.

In 2009, Alfred joined the CIMA Council, serving on the Global Markets Committee, Marketing Committee, and Professional Standards Committee until 2011. He was awarded the CIMA Silver Medal in 2013 in recognition of his outstanding leadership and significant contributions to the Institute.

In 2023, Alfred returned to the CIMA Council and joined the Board of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. Over the past year, he served as CIMA Vice President and is currently a member of the Nominations Committee and the Examination Committee.

Alfred lives in Johannesburg, South Africa, with his wife, and they have three adult children. He enjoys reading, cycling, and running.
