ShanghaiMay 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On May 26, 2026, Arkema’s long-term corporate social responsibility program in China, the “Green Innovation Classroom,” celebrated its 10th anniversary with activities at the Central Primary School of Nanmudu Town and the Central Primary School of Fengsan Town in Kaiyang County, Guizhou Province. Arkema employee volunteers and partners participated in classroom activities and donated teaching equipment, as well as learning and daily necessities to the schools. The return to Guizhou serves as a concrete example of the “Green Innovation Classroom” reaching its tenth year: this program has evolved from an initial campus public welfare initiative into a local public service platform that connects Arkema’s factories and offices in China with schools and communities, while also attracting customers and industry partners to participate together.

Zhang Xiaoyu, President of Arkema Greater China, stated: “Over the years, I have been following the ‘Green Innovation Classroom’ into different schools. This is already my third time coming to Guizhou with the program. Every time I step into the classroom and see the bright smiles on the children’s faces, I feel more deeply that the most valuable aspect of this program is not just that it has lasted for so many years, but that it has attracted more and more employees, customers, and partners to join in. I want to thank the Arkema employee volunteers who have long participated in the activities, as well as the schools, teachers, and communities for their trust and support. It is precisely because more and more people are willing to walk this path together that the ‘Green Innovation Classroom’ has grown from a public welfare classroom into a long-term public service practice connecting many people.”

The “Green Innovation Classroom” program began in May 2016. It is a long-term public welfare initiative that Arkema has continuously carried out based on the Group’s corporate social responsibility commitments, combined with local education and community needs in China. The program continues the open dialogue philosophy advocated by the Group’s “Consensus® Plan,” fostering genuine trust between Arkema and its stakeholders by connecting the company, its factories, and local communities. As a supplement to the regular school curriculum, the “Green Innovation Classroom” helps young people access diverse knowledge and supports improvements in teaching conditions through donations of equipment, books, and learning materials. As of 2026, the program has reached over thirty schools across multiple provinces and cities, including Jiangsu, Hebei, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Shanghai, and Guangdong, involving all of Arkema’s factories and offices in China. Cumulatively, participating employees account for approximately one-fifth of the total workforce in the China region.
Over the past decade, the program’s content has continuously evolved. From initially focusing on innovative chemistry education and safety awareness, to gradually expanding to topics such as climate change, low-carbon living, and sustainable actions, the “Green Innovation Classroom” has consistently optimized itself based on changes in young people’s cognitive styles and societal issues. With the upgrade of Arkema’s corporate social responsibility brand in China to “Green Life, Achieve a Sustainable Future,” the program has further transformed the Group’s vision of “Innovative Materials for a Sustainable World” into a “Climate Innovation Curriculum” more suitable for young people to understand and participate in.

This curriculum, designed by Arkema employees in conjunction with the “Climate Fresk QUIZ,” uses gamified,启发式, and co-creative learning methods to help children understand the relationship between climate change and daily life, encouraging them to start with actions around them and gradually build awareness of sustainable development. As of the end of 2025, over 40% of Arkema employees globally have participated in workshops related to the “Climate Fresk,” with the participation rate among employees in China approaching 100%, continuously promoting the exchange and deepening of climate and environmental awareness within the Group. Through the “Green Innovation Classroom,” this internal consensus is reaching campuses and communities, extending a more lasting impact through multi-party participation.
