ShanghaiApril 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Grundfos, a global leader in water technology solutions, has been selected for the “Shanghai Outstanding ESG Case List” awarded by the Shanghai Modern Service Industry Federation and its ESG Service Committee, in recognition of its exceptional practices in sustainable development and its innovative case study on “Building a Water-Resilient World.” The award was presented at the 2026 Corporate Sustainability Conference.

Shanghai Outstanding ESG Case List – Grundfos
The selected case highlights Grundfos China’s success in integrating the Group’s “2040 Winning Vision” into local operations, achieving key progress in carbon reduction and efficiency across the full value chain, industry ecosystem collaboration, and community empowerment.
Carbon Reduction and Efficiency Across the Full Value Chain
Grundfos is committed to translating its carbon reduction pledges into quantifiable results. In 2025, the Grundfos Group helped end-users globally save approximately 1.6 billion cubic meters of water, with total annual carbon emissions reduced by 25% compared to the 2020 baseline.
In China, its intelligent solution, Grundfos iSolution (GiS), has delivered tangible value for customers: improving energy efficiency by over 25% for a food and beverage plant in Tianjin, cutting annual carbon emissions by 90 tons; reducing unit water supply energy consumption by 42% for a water plant in Guangxi, far exceeding the customer’s target; and deploying a “Smart Cooling” prefabricated containerized hydraulic module for a data center in Henan within a tight 40-day delivery window, creating a low-noise, high-efficiency environment for computing operations.

Deepening Industry Collaboration and Standard Co-creation
Advancing climate transformation relies not only on individual innovations but also on breaking down industry barriers. In 2025, Grundfos entered into a deep strategic partnership with the Center of Science and Technology & Industrialization Development under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The research findings were incorporated into China’s first methodology for voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction projects in the building sector, helping integrate energy-saving and carbon-reduction efforts in the building industry into the national carbon trading system. Additionally, Grundfos officially joined the Water Resilience Coalition, working with leading global companies to enhance water ecosystem resilience.
Building Community Water Resilience
Alongside creating business value, a public welfare project funded by the Grundfos Foundation with nearly 1.5 million RMB was launched in China in 2026. The project builds community resilience from dimensions such as “water security” and “climate adaptation”: constructing water pipelines and collection points in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces to improve local water security; in Shaanxi, providing emergency “Go Bags” and conducting drills for children in distressed families in response to extreme climate disasters like heavy rain and landslides. The project directly benefits 5,490 residents.
“Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at Grundfos,” said John Markmann, Country President of Grundfos China. “This recognition affirms our commitment to embedding ESG principles into our core business and social responsibility. Moving forward, Grundfos will further align with China’s green development goals, leverage local technological innovation to empower low-carbon industrial upgrades, and actively participate in China’s high-quality green development practices.”
