Academic Insights: Exploring the Frontier Trends of Chinese Herbal Medicine + Probiotics

Academician Chen Wei delivers a keynote speech
Academician Chen Wei delivered a speech titled “Exploration of Probiotic Biodiversity and Functional Analysis.” He pointed out that probiotic research has moved beyond traditional functions of immune regulation, metabolic regulation, and gut health to uncover more refined and precise physiological functions. Thanks to advancements in microbiological technologies such as culturomics, cell-level sorting, and AI sorting, the precision and efficiency of probiotic selection have been significantly improved. At the same time, from the perspective of the gut microbiome, the research team has clarified the remote physiological regulatory mechanisms of probiotics.

Professor Cui Shumao delivers a keynote speech
Professor Cui Shumao shared a keynote speech titled “Probiotics Assist in the Release and Efficacy of Active Molecules from Chinese Herbal Medicine (Medicine and Food Homology).” He noted that the gut microbiota is a key factor influencing the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicines, and probiotics can convert these herbs into highly active products. He also shared how cutting-edge technologies and AI empowerment can accelerate research and product industrialization. He specifically mentioned that the Lactobacillus reuteri strain CCFM8631, jointly developed by Infinitus and Jiangnan University, has been successfully applied to product upgrades, marking a transition from laboratory research to results that truly serve consumers.
Results Released: Chinese Body Shape Management Solution Unveiled

Mr. Zhou Yong shares platform achievements
Mr. Zhou Yong, Senior Manager of Frontier Technology Research at Infinitus, shared on behalf of both parties the scientific research achievements of the “Infinitus-Jiangnan University Chinese Herbal Medicine + Probiotics Collaborative Innovation Research Center.” The platform-supported Yang Gu Jian Chang Qing Ying probiotic solid beverage was successfully launched in 2024, and the Yang Gu Jian Xing Mei probiotic solid beverage has also been upgraded. Additionally, the platform has developed fermented raw materials such as licorice and ginseng. In terms of ongoing research, the team is advancing the development of various innovative fermented ingredients, including beauty-related complex polysaccharides like fermented Snow Lotus (Saussurea involucrata) and Dendrobium officinale, as well as probiotics for women’s intimate care and oral health.

Ms. Tao Qian shares the Chinese body shape management solution
Ms. Tao Qian, a health food researcher at Infinitus, released the Chinese body shape management solution on behalf of the company. She pointed out that national health demands are continuously evolving, from weight loss to muscle gain, and from weight management to body shape management, which has become a consensus across the population. She highlighted the Chinese body shape management philosophy: focusing on strengthening the spleen (a core concept in Traditional Chinese Medicine), integrating Chinese herbal medicine technology with modern nutrition, and incorporating a “Four Balances” lifestyle. This approach intervenes synergistically from three dimensions—regulating body constitution, optimizing intake, and promoting metabolism—to provide systematic and actionable health solutions for the Chinese people. She also shared that the proprietary strain CCFM8631, jointly developed by Infinitus and Jiangnan University, has been successfully industrialized and secured patent protection in both China and the United States. Based on the design concept of combining Chinese herbal medicine with probiotics, the research team adapted the classic formula “Er Chen Tang,” combining it with CCFM8631 and other advantageous strains to form a unique formulation, delivering tangible health benefits to users.
Looking Ahead: Joint Efforts in Three Key Areas

Mr. Ma Jun announces future collaborative research plans
Mr. Ma Jun announced the future collaborative research plan, clarifying that Infinitus will vigorously develop Chinese herbal medicine technology, focusing on the following three areas: In basic research, leveraging probiotic multi-omics and AI fermentation prediction technologies to deepen the analysis of probiotic pathways and synergistic mechanisms with Chinese herbal medicines, and to discover more proprietary strains and Chinese herbal medicine + probiotic combinations. In industrial transformation, tackling key processes such as strain cultivation, fermentation, and activity enhancement to promote industrial demonstration and bridge the gap from research and development to production. In application scenarios, targeting the gut microbiota characteristics of different populations, and focusing on areas such as immune regulation, anti-aging, metabolic management, women’s health, beauty and skincare, and oral health, to develop more high-quality, efficacy-perceivable “Chinese herbal medicine + probiotic” health products that serve public health.
