From Static to Dynamic Display: E Ink’s Next-Generation Control Chip Architecture Optimization Elevates 75-Inch E-Paper Billboard Performance to a New Milestone

YangzhouMay 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — E Ink Holdings, the global leader in electronic paper technology, announced today (May 21) that, centered around the color ePaper timing control chip T2000, the company has released a new generation of ePaper control chip architecture. This advancement successfully enhances the smoothness of video playback on large-size ePaper displays, enabling ePaper billboards used in the retail advertising market to simultaneously play advertising images. Through this new control architecture, ePaper now possesses the capability to support dynamic video playback, accelerating its transition from static displays to dynamic applications.

With the optimized system architecture, in a 75-inch E Ink KaleidoTM large billboard display scenario, using half the screen to play dynamic images (equivalent to a resolution of 5120×1440), it achieves a display performance of 11 frames per second (fps). This represents an improvement of nearly three times compared to the past, significantly reducing update time. In a scenario where a partial animation is played on a 75-inch display (approximately 1760×2400 resolution), it can even achieve a display performance of 13 fps.

The new architecture optimizes the data processing flow, so that image transmission and display are no longer a single path but can operate synchronously. While displaying a frame, the system can prepare the next frame of image, making the overall operation smoother and effectively improving display efficiency and update speed.

This progress will help accelerate the expansion of ePaper digital signage applications in fields such as retail displays and public information displays, further driving ePaper from traditional static displays towards more interactive and smooth dynamic applications, bringing more possibilities for brand content presentation. Additionally, this new feature can be extended to consumer devices, making the overall system operation more intuitive and smooth. The main application directions include:

  • Compatible with Open Android: Enhances system flexibility and expandability, supporting the Android native App ecosystem.
  • Application in eMonitor: Optimizes user experience, creating a more user-friendly and eye-friendly operating environment, achieving a natural display.
  • AI Application Scenarios: Supports AI operation under low power consumption conditions, realizing the core value of “returning power to AI.”

The new generation of control chip system from E Ink Holdings, applied to the 75-inch E Ink KaleidoTM large billboard display, will be exhibited at the E Ink Holdings booth at Computex 2026. We welcome all visitors.
