“Moldova is a success story in digitalization. It holds a significant advantage in digital services. In this field, Moldova’s talent has already demonstrated strong competitiveness on the European stage. This sector not only generates wealth for Moldova but also offers young people opportunities to build careers at home. This is the foundation on which we are working toward economic integration with the EU,” said EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.

Moldova’s ICT sector has become the country’s strongest economic pillar. Nearly 3,000 companies employ over 26,000 professionals, serving global clients and generating most of their revenue through exports, accounting for 7% of the country’s GDP. In 2025 alone, the total revenue of resident companies in the Moldova Innovation Technology Park (MITP) exceeded $1 billion.

Leveraging competitive talent, digital infrastructure, and increasing alignment with EU standards, Moldova is poised to become an innovation hub within an enlarged European Union.

“For us, digitalization is an inevitable choice to enhance competitiveness, transparency, and resilience, and it is the path to European integration. We choose to compete on talent, not scale. Every individual, every young professional, has unique abilities. We must find ways to empower, embrace, and develop these talents. Our goal is not just to join the EU, but to contribute to building Europe’s digital future,” said Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Munteanu.

Moldova is a regional leader in digital public services, thanks to its advanced and mature interoperability infrastructure. Today, 78% of business-related public services are available online, reducing administrative burdens and costs while making interactions with government agencies faster and more predictable. In 2025 alone, digital public services saved citizens and businesses €44 million and over 9.3 million hours, with the country’s digital infrastructure processing approximately 3.2 million data exchanges daily.

The summit also marked the official launch of EVO 2.0, Moldova’s next-generation integrated government application system. Its digital identity wallet fully complies with the European Digital Identity Framework, enabling citizens to securely access and share verified documents and personal data directly from their mobile phones.

MDS26 also drove Moldova’s transition from digital strength to physical innovation capacity. The first memorandums of understanding and letters of intent for the Moldova High-Tech Park were announced. Planned as a 50-hectare innovation park near Chișinău, it is expected to attract over €200 million in investment in the coming years and support a government data center, a nanotechnology cluster, and a medical technology innovation hub.

The 2026 Moldova Digital Summit took place on June 5-6, sponsored by the Government of Moldova and co-organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the ICT Association of Moldova, the e-Governance Agency, the Moldova Innovation Technology Park, and Tekwill.
