XiamenMay 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — In active response to the national strategy for marine ecological environmental protection, and to strengthen marine culture publicity and education, popularize marine knowledge, enhance public awareness of the ocean, and foster a positive social atmosphere of caring for, understanding, and managing the ocean, Xiamen Swire Coca-Cola and Xiamen University have joined forces through a school-enterprise collaboration. Leveraging the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences’ “Ocean Sharers – Marine Science Communication Social Practice Course,” an aesthetic education and general education program, as well as the marine ecological protection and education initiatives at Xiamen University’s Dongshan Swire Marine Observation and Experimental Station, they have launched a public-oriented marine science popularization platform under the theme “Group ‘Benefit’ Initiative – Ocean Sharers.” By complementing each other’s resources and strengths, students from Xiamen University’s “Ocean Sharers” program step out of the classroom and into communities, taking on key roles in marine knowledge explanation and interactive design, guiding the public to understand and protect the ocean while enhancing marine literacy.

In terms of activity design, the school and enterprise innovatively integrated environmental concepts with science communication. Targeting diverse audiences, including Coca-Cola fans and surrounding communities, the event featured interactive museum explanations led by Xiamen University students and marine science-themed sharing sessions hosted by Xiamen University teams. Notably, two co-creation segments—the “Explainer PK Competition” and the “Environmental Installation Interaction”—stood out as highlights. Among these, a dolphin-shaped installation designed by the students attracted many visitors to write down their feelings on cards, expressing support for marine protection. The activities were rich in content, tightly paced, and balanced knowledge with fun.

This event was not only a school-enterprise collaborative science popularization practice but also an environmental appeal to a broad consumer base. Through immersive experiences and authentic student-led interactive explanations, the public—especially young people—were able to learn about and develop a love for the ocean in a relaxed atmosphere, thereby consciously adopting low-carbon lifestyles, reducing plastic pollution, conserving water resources, and jointly protecting our blue home.
In the future, Xiamen Swire Coca-Cola and Xiamen University will expand their cooperation in marine ecological protection and education. Using the Coca-Cola Museum as one of the public science popularization bases, they will deepen the “Group Benefit Initiative” series of activities, promote marine protection concepts into communities and households, support Xiamen’s development as a marine ecological civilization city, and embed marine protection ideas deeply in the public consciousness.
