June 19–21 Mornings: Haixinsha Birdwatching Tour – Listening to Nature’s Pulse in an Urban Oasis
The hotel specially invited members of the Guangzhou Natural Observation Association to serve as guides, leading birdwatching tours in Haixinsha Park. Each child was equipped with binoculars and a bird observation checklist. The guides led participants along wetland trails to spot over ten bird species, including light-vented bulbuls, kingfishers, and egrets. With each discovery, children checked off their lists while listening to the guides explain bird knowledge. The guides also carried professional telephoto lenses and high-definition screens to magnify and display bird details in real time, allowing both adults and children to observe clearly. This interactive approach—combining “bird spotting, checklist marking, listening, and viewing”—helped participants fall in love with nature observation through a game-like experience. Even first-time birdwatchers could easily enjoy a professional-level experience, quietly feeling the vibrant life of the “green island” in the city center.

June 19–20 Afternoons: Liede Dragon Boat Culture Exploration – Touching the Racing Spirit of a Century-Old Water Village
On the afternoons of June 19 and 20, the hotel specially curated a “Dragon Boat Culture Exploration Route,” leading guests into the adjacent Liede Village—a historic dragon boat village in Guangzhou. Local Liede villagers were invited to serve as guides, offering authentic narratives from those born and raised there. They led guests to visit Liede ancestral halls, Liede Creek, and the Dragon Mother Temple, and also took them to the Liede Dragon Boat Festival market to experience the lively festive atmosphere. The villagers shared century-old stories of Liede’s dragon boat races, ancestral hall culture, Dragon Mother beliefs, and Dragon Boat Festival folk customs amidst the village’s transformation, allowing hotel guests to understand the racing spirit of this water village from a local perspective.

Deepening the Neighborhood Culture of Hotel Indigo
This “Dragon Boat Festival by the River • Neighborhood Discovery” series was a new attempt by the hotel to deepen its neighborhood culture. By deeply integrating guest room stays with distinctive cultural experiences around the hotel, the hotel aims to create travel value beyond traditional accommodation—feeling the century-old heritage of dragon boat racing through the voices of Liede villagers, and discovering overlooked natural vitality in the city center through the lens of birdwatching guides. In the future, the hotel will continue to explore neighborhood stories in Haixinsha and the heart of the Pearl River New Town, offering richer local experience programs to open new perspectives on Guangzhou for every guest.
