ShanghaiJune 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On June 11, 2026, at the Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Technology, Products and Achievements Expo, SGS, an internationally recognized testing, inspection, and certification organization, awarded the ISO 14067:2018 Product Carbon Footprint Verification Statement to “Queen’s Afternoon Tea,” a product of Anhui Qimen Black Tea Industry Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Qimen Black Tea Group). Qimen Black Tea Group is among the first export-oriented agricultural enterprises to use time- and region-specific electricity carbon factors for carbon footprint verification under SGS. The implementation of this project not only highlights Qimen Black Tea Group’s commitment and achievements in deepening low-carbon transformation but also drives substantial breakthroughs in the precision and dynamism of carbon footprint accounting for domestic agricultural products.
Zhu Haixia, Cultural Tourism Operations Manager of Qimen Black Tea Group; Tao Jun, Director of the Development Planning Department of State Grid Huangshan Power Supply Company; and Chen Huijun, General Manager of the East China Region of SGS Management and Assurance Division, among other guests, attended the certificate awarding ceremony.

Time- and Region-Specific Electricity Carbon Factor Implementation: Qimen Black Tea Group Receives ISO 14067 Product Carbon Footprint Verification Statement
In the past, companies typically used the annual average emission factor of national or regional power grids for carbon emission accounting. However, with the large-scale integration of new energy sources such as wind and solar power, the carbon emission intensity of the power grid has become dynamically fluctuating. Relying solely on static averages makes it difficult for companies to objectively assess their true carbon emission baseline. To address this, Qimen Black Tea Group implemented the time-, region-, and voltage-specific electricity carbon factor database built by State Grid Anhui Electric Power. Leveraging the time- and region-specific electricity carbon factors provided by State Grid Huangshan Power Supply Company, the company captured dynamic and precise carbon emission data for its products.
In this verification, SGS expert teams, in accordance with international standards such as ISO 14067, introduced the “time- and region-specific electricity carbon factor” for the first time in the agricultural product verification field. Combining the specific production periods and the power grid structure of the specific geographic location, they tracked the dynamic carbon emissions of electricity consumption. A life cycle verification was conducted for Qimen Black Tea Group’s entire process, from tea cultivation, processing, and production to packaging. During the processing stage, the verification focused on calculating the dynamic carbon emission data of major electricity-consuming processes, including withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying. This finer granularity of data helps companies objectively reflect their actual carbon emission levels and provides a clear data baseline for subsequent exploration of emission reduction opportunities.

Tao Jun, Director of the Development Planning Department of State Grid Huangshan Power Supply Company, stated: “The implementation of the carbon footprint verification for Qimen Black Tea Group’s ‘Queen’s Afternoon Tea’ product marks a successful pilot application of hourly-level time- and region-specific electricity carbon factors in Huangshan City. Leveraging the time- and voltage-specific electricity carbon factor database built by State Grid Anhui Electric Power, we achieved refined electricity carbon calculations, helping the product overcome green trade barriers for exports. We will continue to advance regional electricity carbon work, using electricity carbon services to boost the low-carbon internationalization of Huangshan’s specialty industries.”
Zhu Haixia, Cultural Tourism Operations Manager of Qimen Black Tea Group, stated: “Against the backdrop of the ‘dual carbon’ goals, global market attention to the environmental impact of products is increasing. By introducing international standards and refined time- and region-specific electricity carbon factor accounting, we can more clearly and objectively grasp the true carbon emission status of the product’s entire life cycle. This not only provides clear data navigation for the company to subsequently explore scientific emission reduction pathways but also offers necessary data support to meet international green compliance requirements.”
Chen Huijun, General Manager of the East China Region of SGS Management and Assurance Division, emphasized in her speech: “Accurate and dynamic carbon footprint accounting is an important foundation for companies to achieve substantial emission reductions. SGS will always adhere to an objective and rigorous professional stance, empowering low-carbon transformation across industries with international technical services. We hope that by providing transparent and traceable carbon data verification, we can help more companies build green core competitiveness and confidently participate in global sustainable trade.”
As global green trade requirements continue to rise, objective, transparent, and traceable product carbon data is gradually becoming a basic condition for companies to participate in the international market. Moving forward, SGS will continue to leverage its professional expertise in energy management, greenhouse gas verification, and life cycle assessment to assist companies in accurately accounting for carbon data, jointly promoting sustainable development in agricultural products and more industries, contributing professional expertise to green practices, and contributing to global ecological sustainable development.
SGS has launched the “IMPACT NOW Sustainability Act Now” solution, focusing on four core areas: climate change, circular economy, nature conservation, and ESG assurance.
