Under this collaboration framework, MayCham Guangdong will select and recommend eligible B2B partners to MHTC, including travel agencies, insurance service providers, and healthcare-related institutions, while providing market insights and facilitating connections with corporate decision-makers in the Greater Bay Area. MayCham Guangdong will also leverage its official communication platforms, such as its WeChat public account and member channels, to promote Malaysian healthcare programs to the Chinese business community. Beyond business matchmaking, MayCham Guangdong will designate MHTC as a priority partner, inviting the council to participate in events aligned with its strategic interests, including keynote speeches, brand showcases, and networking sessions. In response, MHTC will share approved promotional materials and brand resources, facilitate connections with Malaysian healthcare institutions, and invite MayCham Guangdong members to participate in key initiatives such as “Malaysia Healthcare Week.”

This partnership marks a strategic shift in MHTC’s approach to the Chinese market, moving from broad-based promotion to targeted, partnership-driven engagement. China remains a key source market for Malaysian healthcare services, with over 120,700 Chinese medical travelers seeking treatment in Malaysia in 2025, representing a 36.2% year-on-year increase. Leveraging MayCham Guangdong’s established position as a neutral and credible chamber platform, this collaboration enhances stakeholder confidence and ensures sustained visibility for Malaysian healthcare services in the Greater Bay Area. All joint promotional content and industry activities conducted under this collaboration will comply with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act and relevant Chinese data protection and advertising regulations, ensuring a transparent and compliant cooperation framework.

Suriaghandi Suppiah, CEO of MHTC, stated: “China remains a vital market for Malaysian healthcare services, and this partnership with MayCham Guangdong allows us to deepen our engagement in a more structured and meaningful way. By integrating into a trusted business ecosystem, we can move beyond broad marketing efforts and focus on building high-quality, results-oriented partnerships that deliver long-term value.”

He added: “This collaboration also reflects our broader vision under the ‘2026 Malaysia Healthcare Travel Year’ framework — ‘Healing Meets Hospitality’ is not just a commitment to care, but a promise to deliver a seamless and trustworthy healthcare journey. Through such strategic partnerships, we are solidifying Malaysia’s position as a premier global healthcare travel destination.”

The collaboration between MHTC and MayCham Guangdong is part of MHTC’s broader market development strategy under the “2026 Malaysia Healthcare Travel Year” framework. This strategy aims to position Malaysia as a globally preferred healthcare destination through targeted, high-impact partnerships. The two parties will advance initial joint initiatives ahead of “Malaysia Healthcare Week,” further reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare experiences for patients in the region.
