Backed by direct scientific research with elite collegiate and youth athletes, CryoTherm Palm cooling technology makes its debut with the England national team, supporting training camps, pre-match friendlies, and sideline recovery sessions
LOS ANGELESJune 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Therabody®, a global leader in health technology, today announced the launch of CryoTherm Palm, a new addition to the brand’s performance product line and its official entry into the emerging thermoregulation category. CryoTherm Palm is the first palm-cooling device validated by two controlled studies with statistically significant results prior to launch. It delivers scientifically proven palm cooling to reduce core body temperature, delay fatigue, lower perceived exertion, and sustain athletic performance during breaks in high-intensity activity.

The new Therabody CryoTherm™ Palm is a portable, scientifically validated thermoregulation device designed to reduce core body temperature, delay fatigue, and maintain peak athletic performance during high-intensity training and competition.
CryoTherm Palm is a portable, wireless device featuring dual cooling surfaces for each palm, designed for natural rest between sets, halftime, timeouts, hydration breaks, or any rest period during high-intensity interval training or competition. Therabody’s proprietary Cryothermal technology delivers scientifically calibrated cooling, maintaining a therapeutic temperature range throughout use without the need for ice, water, or any preparation. In addition to palm cooling, it offers localized cold therapy, localized heat therapy, and contrast therapy, providing athletes and performance teams with a single device for both in-training performance enhancement and post-training recovery.
Additional features of CryoTherm Palm:
- Three scientifically calibrated cooling levels (46.4°F/8°C, 53.6°F/12°C, 60.8°F/16°C), powered by proprietary Cryothermal technology
- LCD display with a stopwatch for tracking usage time and temperature status indicator
- Memory setting function to recall last-used settings for quick start
- Battery life up to 120 minutes; charges via USB-C
- Roll-resistant portable design with travel lock, includes travel pouch

This launch comes as elite athletes prepare for summer competitions in high temperatures, where body temperature management and recovery are critical to performance. The England national football team has integrated CryoTherm Palm into its pre-match preparation routine, using the device throughout training camps ahead of upcoming matches.
CryoTherm Palm is the only palm-cooling device validated by two controlled studies: one in collaboration with Division 1 athletes at the University of Southern California, focusing on strength training; and another with elite football players at IMG Academy, focusing on repeated sprint training. Study results revealed:
- 28% increase in total training volume during resistance training compared to the control group*
- 58% increase in repetitions on the final set compared to the control group*
- 7% improvement in post-training grip strength compared to the control group*
- 60% increase in perceived coolness among athletes during repeated sprint training**
- 2.45% improvement in maximum sprint speed compared to the control group**
- 4.7% improvement in sprint speed maintenance during repeated maximal sprints**

Tim Roberts, Chief Science Officer at Therabody, said: “Our mission has always been to help people feel better and perform better. CryoTherm Palm extends that mission into the training itself—helping athletes delay fatigue, maintain intensity, and get more out of every effort. Whether it’s a football player maintaining peak performance in the 85th minute of a match or a strength athlete pushing through a final set, this product is designed and validated to make a measurable difference.”
CryoTherm Palm is TSA-compliant, registered as a Class 2 exempt medical device in the U.S., and as a Class 2 medical device in Canada. The product is now available for purchase in the U.S. at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $399.99, available at Therabody.com. International launches in the EU, UK, Australia, and Canada are scheduled for fall 2026.

*Results from a randomized crossover study conducted in collaboration with USC involving 21 Division 1 collegiate athletes performing 4 sets of overhead press to failure at 85% 1RM, with a single use of CryoTherm™ Palm between sets. Results compare intervention and control conditions and may not reflect effects in other training contexts, athlete levels, or populations. For full study details, visit therabody.com/science.
**Results from a randomized crossover study conducted in collaboration with IMG Academy and the University of Florida involving 22 elite male football players (ages 17-19) performing 2 sets of 6 repeated sprints, with a single 2.5-minute use of CryoTherm™ Palm between sets. Results compare intervention and control conditions and may not reflect effects in other training contexts, athlete levels, age groups, or populations.
