Visitors to the Watson-Marlow booth will learn about its reliable fluid path solutions, designed to support stable transfer of shear-sensitive slurries, precise chemical metering, and continuous operation of process flows in battery manufacturing applications.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), China dominates global lithium-ion battery production capacity, driven by strong growth in electric vehicle and energy storage demand. Data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that from January to April 2025, China’s lithium-ion battery output exceeded 473 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 68%.

“China is the epicenter of global battery manufacturing growth, and Watson-Marlow’s Qdos® chemical metering pumps, including the Qdos H-FLO, offer accuracy up to ±1% and repeatability up to ±0.5%, helping manufacturers reduce chemical consumption, lower operating costs, and minimize emissions related to chemical handling and transfer,” said Jose Longo, Head of Process Industries, Asia Pacific.

In line with the 2026 China International Battery Fair’s themes of sustainable development and advanced battery innovation, Watson-Marlow also participated in the fair’s poster design competition, using traffic flow as a metaphor.

Faith Tang, Head of Marketing, Process Industries, Asia Pacific, explained: “Think of us as a one-stop solution provider that helps clear ‘bottlenecks’ in production processes, enabling manufacturers to achieve smooth, efficient, and bottleneck-free operations, thereby improving production efficiency. Slurry transfer is a critical step in battery manufacturing, especially for lithium-ion battery production, as it directly impacts the quality, consistency, and performance of the final cells. Our pump technology offers zero metal contamination, precise metering, easy maintenance, reduced downtime, and reliable transfer. Visit us at Booth 185, Hall 12B at the CIBF exhibition to learn more.”

Additionally, Watson-Marlow will showcase the Bredel heavy-duty hose pump, specifically designed to handle abrasive slurries common in battery production. The Bredel pump can transfer fluids with solid concentrations up to 80%, achieving reliable, low-maintenance operation without the need for vulnerable mechanical seals, valves, or rotors. A highlight of the exhibition is the Aflex PTFE-lined hose, offering exceptional chemical resistance and contamination-free transfer. Its smooth inner wall structure ensures clean and efficient operation under high pressure and temperatures up to 260°C.

Welcome to the Watson-Marlow booth at Booth 185, Hall 12B at the 2026 CIBF exhibition to learn how Watson-Marlow’s fluid path technology can help create safer, cleaner, and more efficient battery manufacturing processes.
