MyDrivers, August 28 — The National Bureau of Statistics recently released profit data for national industrial enterprises above designated size from January to July 2026.
Yu Weidong, Chief Statistician of the Department of Industrial Statistics, stated that as the "AI+" strategy accelerates its rollout and computing power demand continues to expand, increased demand for related products has driven up prices. This has fueled rapid profit growth in the electronics industry, making it the main support for the relatively fast growth of profits among industrial enterprises above designated size.
Within the electronics industry, demand for computing power is triggering an "explosive" surge in profits. Among these, the integrated circuit industry—represented by computing power chips and memory chips—saw its year-on-year profits surge by 18.5 times, contributing more than 80% to total profit growth across the entire electronics sector.
Both upstream and downstream segments of the supply chain have benefited simultaneously: complete computer manufacturing, computer peripheral equipment manufacturing, and industrial control computer and systems manufacturing—all tied to computers and servers—saw profits grow by 3.3 times, 2.5 times, and 1.6 times, respectively.
In the electronic devices and components manufacturing domain, profits for specialized electronic materials manufacturing, semiconductor discrete device manufacturing, and electronic circuit manufacturing grew by 226.8%, 45.8%, and 37.1%, respectively.
Pang Ming, a member of the China Chief Economist Forum, analyzed that this remarkable growth is essentially a concentrated reflection of the accelerated release of new quality productive forces resonating with global AI and consumer electronics supply chain cycles. High-end segments, particularly integrated circuits (such as memory chips), achieved an explosive release of market dividends.
As the application of AI, big data, and cloud computing accelerates and expands, the market footprint for the electronic information industry has widened significantly, driving synchronized growth across upstream components and related manufacturing links. At the same time, the recovery of export orders and the improvement of domestic supply chain support have provided solid backing for the industry's profitability.
