ShanghaiApril 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Initiated by the China Charity Federation and supported by Eisai (China) Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Eisai Pharmaceutical”) through the donation of Lenvima® (Lenvatinib Mesylate Capsules) (4mg/capsule), the “Wei Ai Xin Sheng Regional Charitable Assistance Project” (hereinafter referred to as “Wei Ai Xin Sheng”) has been bringing hope to numerous liver cancer patients since its launch in March 2024.
To effectively alleviate the long-term medication financial burden on liver cancer patients and provide charitable support to those in need, the optimized assistance plan for “Wei Ai Xin Sheng” was launched on April 20, 2026. This adjustment not only significantly extends the patient assistance period but also formally expands the scope of aid for low-income individuals nationwide, offering more robust life security and hope to hepatocellular carcinoma patients, with a marked improvement in public welfare.
Expanding Assistance Scope and Extending Assistance Period: A Dual Solution to Liver Cancer Patients’ Medication Challenges
I. Expanding Assistance Scope
(1) Patients with Low-Income Status (Including Registered Poverty-Stricken Households), Extreme Poverty, and Marginal Low-Income Households
This optimization expands the assistance scope for low-income patients nationwide and explicitly broadens the definition of low-income status to include registered poverty-stricken households, extreme poverty, and marginal low-income households—multiple categories of patients in urgent need of support. It also simplifies the application process for low-income patients, aiming to make charitable assistance more accessible.
(2) Non-Low-Income Patients
Beyond the original eight provinces and municipalities—Guangdong, Hebei, Hunan, Tianjin, Fujian, Qinghai, Guangxi, and Hainan—the project has added Anhui Province, continuing to provide assistance to eligible patients in these regions.
II. Extending Assistance Period
To enable patients in need to receive longer-term standardized treatment, this optimization of the assistance plan also extends the patient assistance period, aiming to better alleviate their long-term medication burden.
(1) Patients with Low-Income Status (Including Registered Poverty-Stricken Households), Extreme Poverty, and Marginal Low-Income Households
Eligible patients can directly apply for the project. Upon approval and enrollment, they can receive monthly assistance medications consecutively for up to 12 months, after which the assistance ends (i.e., 0+12), with follow-ups every 90 days during this period.
(2) Non-Low-Income Patients
Eligible patients must self-fund continuous treatment with Lenvima for 4 months. Upon approval and enrollment, they can receive monthly assistance medications consecutively for up to 8 months, after which the assistance ends (i.e., 4+8), with follow-ups every 90 days during this period.
(3) Currently Enrolled Patients
The project has also optimized various transitional assistance plans. Patients are advised to read the project announcement and can contact the project hotline for any inquiries.
Lenvima® Continues to Increase Assistance Efforts Despite Inclusion in Centralized Procurement
After drugs are included in national centralized procurement and significantly reduced in price, pharmaceutical companies often cancel related charitable assistance projects.
In this round of upgrades, however, Eisai Pharmaceutical, as the donor of the “Wei Ai Xin Sheng” project, has consistently prioritized the interests of patients and their families. Adhering to the corporate philosophy of “hhc” (human health care), it has increased assistance efforts and expanded coverage, demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility and a long-term commitment to human health.
Lenvima® is the original research drug for lenvatinib and is currently the only drug on the market that, after being included in centralized procurement and significantly reducing its price, continues to increase assistance efforts and expand its assistance scope. This benevolent act embodies the original intent of the “Wei Ai Xin Sheng” project, lifting the hope of life for countless families in desperate situations.
