Bids for Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Vacheron Constantin lots were fiercely competitive, with all final prices exceeding estimates.
Abu Dhabi, UAE, Geneva, and SingaporeMay 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — FutureGrail has set a new milestone in vintage watch valuations, attracting collectors from over 40 countries and regions to its May auction. This “white glove” sale achieved remarkable results, with a Rolex Datejust modified by legendary watchmaker George Daniels setting a new record. This exceptional timepiece far exceeded its estimate (between $100,000 and $200,000), ultimately selling for $520,000.

No lots went unsold, reflecting the robust state of the international market for rare fine timepieces.
FutureGrail CEO Ali Nael stated: “Strong demand from collectors and institutions for exceptional timepieces has intensified competition in the spring auctions. This was fully evident in our May sale, where global collectors highly recognized the rarity and condition of the selected watches. As expected, these unique and historically significant pieces sparked genuine bidding enthusiasm.”

One of the visually stunning and boundary-pushing pieces was an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe watch set with diamonds and rubies. Reference 4700/160J far exceeded its high estimate, selling for $400,000. Rare “lug” design Patek Philippe watches also saw strong demand, including Reference 1579J ‘Spider Lugs’ and Reference 2549/1 J ‘Turtle Lugs’, as well as the Rolex Reference 2057 monopusher chronograph.
While the fervor for exceptional wristwatches is set to continue, Nael also believes vintage pocket watches are making a fashion comeback: every pocket watch lot in the May auction met or exceeded its estimate.
Nael added: “Whether through popular series like ‘Peaky Blinders’ or the latest high-profile collaboration between Audemars Piguet and Swatch, pocket watches are experiencing a cultural renaissance. Collectors are rediscovering the true beauty and heritage value of these classic timepieces.”
