Pixelworks Collaborates with TCL RayNeo to Develop Next-Generation AR Image Quality Chip, Enhancing Visual Experience for the RayNeo GT Series

ShanghaiMay 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Pixelworks, a professional provider of image and display processing solutions, today announced that the latest flagship “RayNeo GT” series from consumer AR brand RayNeo, features the next-generation “Vision 4000″ AR image quality chip. Co-developed by RayNeo and Pixelworks, the chip integrates new technologies including AI SDR-to-HDR conversion, color management, and detail enhancement, enabling full-chain image quality optimization for a cinematic visual experience. Notably, with the support of this chip, the RayNeo GT series becomes the world’s first AR glasses kit to support Dolby Vision video playback.

To overcome hardware performance limitations and elevate the image quality standards of AR glasses for video viewing, the “Vision 4000” AR image quality chip has been upgraded across multiple dimensions, including color, brightness, and clarity. In terms of color and brightness, color calibration and restoration technology significantly improves color accuracy, meeting the playback requirements of Dolby Vision display devices and delivering a more immersive viewing experience for users.

Addressing issues of color deviation and image quality degradation in near-eye displays for AR glasses, the chip introduces dynamic gamma adjustment technology in its color management module. This enables real-time optimization of the image based on display content, accurately restoring the brightness and contrast of the content across different scenes. Meanwhile, the upgraded AI SDR-to-HDR technology provides strong support for the glasses’ color and brightness performance. The chip’s built-in new AI algorithm dynamically determines mapping strategies based on the characteristics of each frame, enabling more precise analysis of image brightness and color. Compared to traditional SDR-to-HDR technologies that rely on “repeated use of a single set of parameters,” this solution achieves targeted image quality tuning, more accurately reproducing the creator’s artistic intent.

Beyond improvements in color and brightness, the chip also adds a detail enhancement feature for clarity, allowing for more nuanced and realistic rendering of details such as landscapes and hair. Additionally, the chip incorporates an eye-care reading mode, which can help reduce visual fatigue during prolonged wear, offering users a more relaxed and comfortable viewing experience.
