Ulsan, South KoreaJune 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Nam-gu, Ulsan, renowned as an eco-cultural district and a symbolic hub of Korea’s whale culture, will host the 5th Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival from June 19 to 28 at Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village.
Nam-gu, Ulsan to host the 5th Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival, introducing a new Whale Kart ride.
This festival has become a signature early-summer floral event in Ulsan. This year, the site features over 37,000 hydrangea plants across 40 varieties, including new additions like Hunter Blue, Red Baron, and Marshall. With approximately 900,000 blooms in full display, the garden transforms into a vibrant sea of layered floral waves. After sunset, the illuminated landscape creates a romantic and enchanting atmosphere.
A major highlight of this year’s festival is the launch of the “Whale Kart” attraction: a 1.05-kilometer electric circular track that runs through the entire culture village. The karts can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h, allowing riders to pass by the Whale Sculpture Park and Lavender Garden, offering an immersive panoramic view of Jangsaengpo. Designed with the district’s official mascot, “Jangsaengi,” this thrilling new ride lets visitors experience the local coastal charm in an exciting way.
During the festival, a stage at the Whale Culture Plaza will host a continuous lineup of cultural and entertainment events, starting with an opening ceremony. Visitors can enjoy a variety of special programs, including the “Hydrangea Music Box” hosted by popular radio DJs, retro acoustic folk concerts, street performances, and family-friendly magic shows. Every Saturday evening, a spectacular fireworks display will light up the sky over Jangsaengpo.
To accommodate early visitors, Nam-gu District Office will set up a promotional service booth next to the Whale Culture Village office starting June 6. Throughout the site, a flea market, food trucks, and interactive experience booths will operate, creating a lively atmosphere and offering diverse activities for families, couples, and tourists from all over.
The festival is free and open to the public, allowing visitors to enjoy the stunning hydrangea displays at no cost. Those who purchase tickets for the Whale Kart ride can also take advantage of exclusive discounts on new tourism-related merchandise.
A representative from Nam-gu District Office stated, “This year’s festival is uniquely special, offering visitors the chance to admire the meticulously cultivated hydrangea blooms while experiencing the newly launched Whale Kart. We hope that families, couples, and groups of friends will create lasting memories in a setting that blends flowers, culture, and leisure.”
