Fireaway’s Stat-X® Condensed Aerosol Fire Suppression System Receives Type Approval and EU/UK Marine Equipment Certification Following MSC.1/Circ.1270 Evaluation

Three certificates issued by Bureau Veritas support the use of the system in marine environments regulated by the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) on vessels worldwide, as well as those flying EU and UK flags.

MINNETONKA, MinnesotaJune 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Fireaway Inc. today announced that its Stat-X® condensed aerosol fire suppression system has been evaluated in accordance with MSC.1/Circ.1270 and has received type approval from Bureau Veritas. The three certificates apply to the global market, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, respectively.

The Bureau Veritas Type Approval Certificate (23277/D1 BV) confirms that the Stat-X system meets the requirements of SOLAS 74 (as amended), the FSS Code, the 1994 and 2000 HSC Codes, and IMO MSC.1/Circ.1270, with validity through October 22, 2030. The EC Type Examination Certificate (81823/A0 MED), issued under the EU Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU, supports vessels flying EU flags via the wheelmark certification route and is valid until April 8, 2031. Bureau Veritas also issued the UK Type Examination Certificate (81824/A0 UK) under the Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2025, authorized by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, with the same validity through April 8, 2031.

Lance Harry, President and CEO of Fireaway Inc. and a registered professional engineer, stated: “This recognition confirms that the Stat-X system meets the established evaluation criteria for applicable SOLAS marine applications. It also reflects the standardized process of combining performance verification, technical assessment, and certification in practice.”

The certification covers 15 generator models in the E-series (electrically activated) and T-series (thermally activated), all of which have been evaluated for use in enclosed marine machinery spaces. The type approval confirms that the Stat-X system design meets the applicable evaluation requirements. Specific marine installations must still undergo review and approval by classification societies and flag state authorities based on project-specific conditions.

The Stat-X condensed aerosol system is designed for enclosed and special hazard environments, suitable for applications requiring a compact, non-conductive fire suppression solution. The system can be widely used in various marine spaces, including machinery rooms, control cabinets, and auxiliary equipment enclosures. With certification for the EU and UK markets, as well as global BV type approval, Stat-X is poised to participate more broadly in SOLAS-governed projects worldwide.
