Marriott International Accelerates Its Select-Service Segment Strategy, Introducing the Marriott Bonvoy Select Brand to Drive Value Growth for Existing Hotels

SHANGHAIJune 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Marriott International announced the introduction of the Series by Marriott brand into Greater China, further strengthening its select-service segment and providing a more flexible and investment-efficient solution for empowering and branding existing hotels in China. Series by Marriott aims to partner with local hotel brands that have regional influence and market recognition, preserving the local culture and unique charm of each hotel while integrating Marriott International’s established brand standards, global sales network, and Marriott Bonvoy membership ecosystem. This helps partners enhance direct sales capabilities, member reach, and long-term operational value. “As travel demand in China continues to diversify, consumers are not only seeking high cost-effectiveness and reliable quality but also placing greater value on accommodation experiences with local characteristics and personal expression. The introduction of Series by Marriott is Marriott International’s proactive response to this market trend and owner needs,” said Ms. Yibing Mao, President of Marriott International Greater China. “As an important addition to the group’s select-service brand portfolio, Series by Marriott will not only bring Marriott Bonvoy members richer and more locally distinctive travel options but also create more sustainable long-term value for partners, owners, and investors.”

The Series by Marriott brand was founded in May 2025 as a hotel collection brand designed for guests who appreciate comfortable experiences, high cost-effectiveness, and local cultural ambiance. The brand focuses on the select-service segment, aiming to integrate established regional hotel brands into the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem, maintaining their unique identity while providing reliable and consistent quality standards and membership benefits. Since its launch, Series by Marriott has steadily developed in the global market, currently operating 55 hotels with 37 more in the pipeline.

Under this collaboration, select Arro Khampa boutique hotels under CG Hospitality Global will join the Series by Marriott brand. Arro Khampa hotels, located in southwestern China, are widely favored by travelers for their unique architectural style and rich local cultural characteristics. The first four Arro Khampa hotels under this partnership are scheduled to open by the end of this year after completing facility and design renovations. Previously, in 2025, CG Hospitality Global announced that over 115 hotels and more than 8,000 rooms under its The Fern Hotels & Resorts in India would gradually join the Series by Marriott brand, fully demonstrating the brand’s global replicability, the potential of the Chinese market, and the confidence of strategic partners.

BTG Homeinns Hotel Group’s WASSIM brand, which signed the strategic cooperation agreement this time, is committed to providing high-quality solutions for mid-to-high-end hotels, creating stable and reliable operational value, and has become a rapidly growing brand representative in the mid-to-high-end hotel market. Partners like BTG Wanxin will leverage their experience and customer base in the Chinese market, along with the industrial advantages of BTG Homeinns Hotel Group, to promote the rollout of Series by Marriott hotels in key cities and distinctive destinations.

“We are delighted to partner with CG Hospitality Global and BTG Wanxin to introduce the Series by Marriott brand to the Chinese market. This collaboration reflects Marriott International’s long-term confidence in the growth potential of China’s select-service segment and responds to the demand from owners and investors for more flexible and efficient brand cooperation models,” said Mr. Guogang Yu, Chief Development Officer of Marriott International Greater China. “Series by Marriott’s development strategy focuses on local hotel brands with a market foundation and regional influence. Through a relatively flexible brand integration model, it helps existing hotels retain their original characteristics while accessing Marriott International’s brand standards, global sales network, and Marriott Bonvoy membership ecosystem. We believe this model can effectively enhance asset operational efficiency and market competitiveness, providing owners with an investment choice that combines reliable quality, original expression, and long-term return potential. Looking ahead, we look forward to working with more experienced partners to drive the steady and sustainable development of Series by Marriott in China.”
