Supreme Court upholds ruling that TCS willfully misappropriated DXC trade secrets, emphasizing the importance of protecting intellectual property and customer trust
ASHBURN, VirginiaJune 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), a leading enterprise technology and innovation partner, today announced that it has successfully recovered $213,560,494.98 from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in a landmark trade secret case involving DXC subsidiary Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC).
The Supreme Court declined to overturn the lower court’s ruling, including the $168 million in damages awarded to DXC, plus interest, resulting in DXC ultimately receiving $213,560,494.98.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit had previously upheld the original verdict, finding that TCS intentionally and maliciously misappropriated CSC’s trade secrets; the court noted that the record contained ample evidence that TCS’s actions were willful and demonstrated a deliberate disregard for CSC’s legal rights.
This outcome reflects DXC’s steadfast commitment to defending its intellectual property and further underscores the importance of fair competition, the rule of law, and protecting the right to innovate. Safeguarding intellectual property is critical to securing customer solutions and helps ensure continued investment in technological innovation that drives business results.
“Trust is the foundation of all business relationships,” said Raul Fernandez, President and CEO of DXC. “In the era of AI innovation, trust is even more critical. That is why it is deeply disappointing to see a global enterprise like TCS found to have willfully misappropriated an American company’s trade secrets. We are also grateful to the U.S. judicial system for upholding and protecting the legitimate rights of technology innovators.”
