Trade Union Committee jointly launched a tripartite initiative, “Supporting Yunnan Cooperation,” using imaging to light up the smiles of children in mountainous areas.
ShanghaiMay 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Shanghai and Yunnan, connected by a river, share a deep bond of mountains and seas. Against the backdrop of deepening collaboration between Shanghai and Yunnan, a public welfare imaging education activity themed “For More Smiles” was warmly launched on May 19, 2026, at Pengdang Township Central School in Gongshan Dulong and Nu Autonomous County, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The event was spearheaded by the Shanghai Pudong New Area Tangqiao Subdistrict Trade Union, actively coordinated and promoted by the 2025 Nujiang Prefecture Cadre Training Class for Secondment to Shanghai Pudong New Area, and jointly organized with the Fujifilm (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Trade Union Committee and Pengdang Township Central School.

Unlike traditional material donations, this activity was systematically designed in three phases—from the initial “Smile Catcher” mobile photography warm-up to spark children’s interest in photography, to photography classes and on-site creation for face-to-face teaching, and finally to a month-long after-school film creation phase for lasting impact. This formed a complete imaging public welfare cycle, opening a window for children in mountainous areas to perceive the world through the lens, and serving as a vivid practice of empowering rural education with aesthetic education.
Imaging Enlightenment and Slow Creation Experience: Perceiving the Charm of Rich Imaging
The initial “Smile Catcher” mobile photography competition was launched for all students in early May. Children captured various heartwarming smiles in their daily lives—proud smiles of teachers and students under the national flag, warm scenes of classmates and neighbors helping each other, the relieved and joyful faces of busy parents and grandparents, and the smiling faces of friends sharing snacks. They wrote stories for each photo, meticulously recording the beautiful moments around them.
The second phase of photography learning kicked off on May 19. On the event day, teachers and children at Pengdang Township Central School received basic photography instruction from professional photographer Yang Jing, learning techniques for framing, lighting, and capturing decisive moments. They then stepped out of the classroom with their newly acquired photography knowledge to embark on their imaging creation journey. Using Fujifilm single-use film cameras and Jelly cameras, they captured themes such as “My Friends,” “Pictures of Sounds,” and “My Secret Base,” documenting their classmates, campus, and the most cherished corners of their hearts.

A “Searching for the Most Beautiful Smiles in Nujiang” photo display wall was also set up at the event, showcasing award-winning works from the earlier “Smile Catcher” competition and the photos taken by the children on the day. When they saw their photos gradually become tangible objects, they were thrilled and couldn’t put them down.

The third phase of after-school creation began on May 20. Over the course of a month, children will use single-use film cameras to take photos freely—each press of the shutter requires careful thought and patient waiting, allowing them to experience the joy of slow imaging creation with limited film. After shooting, all developed physical photos will be displayed on campus for an extended period and will also participate in this year’s photography competition organized by the Fujifilm (China) Trade Union, helping the perspectives of children in mountainous areas to be seen more widely.

From Dunhuang to Nujiang: The Continuous Relay of Fujifilm’s Imaging Public Welfare
This is not the first time Fujifilm (China) Investment Co., Ltd. has brought imaging public welfare to rural schools. In April 2025, the company’s trade union committee donated 50 Jelly cameras, 100 rolls of color film, and multiple printing devices to Qilizhen Middle School in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, and invited professional photographer Zhao Geli to offer a public welfare course combining Dunhuang mural aesthetics with film photography, sparking students’ artistic interest. In March 2026, the activity visited Huayuan Primary School in Wenping Town, Wugang City, Hunan Province. Under the guidance of photographer Yang Jing, children used single-use film cameras to record pure stories of campus, fields, and friends. The children’s works were also exhibited at this year’s P&E Imaging Expo in Beijing, where witty captions and warm photos moved many visitors. Now, the baton of imaging public welfare has been passed to Gongshan in Nujiang.

“For More Smiles” is the mission of the Fujifilm Group. Since its establishment in 2001, Fujifilm (China) Investment Co., Ltd. has not only continuously provided high-quality imaging products and solutions to Chinese consumers but has also actively engaged in public welfare imaging education, fulfilling corporate social responsibility through concrete actions. From Dunhuang to Wugang, and then to Nujiang—this path of imaging public welfare has connected the smiles and imaginations of more and more children. Fujifilm believes that every sincere glance and every warm response is the soil in which smiles grow.
