ShanghaiMay 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On May 8, 2026, the photography retrospective exhibition “All Sounds Are Silent” by renowned photographic artist and Magnum Photos member Mark Power opened at X-SPACE Fujifilm Imaging Space in Shanghai. The exhibition features 105 works, encompassing the artist’s five most core series from nearly 40 years of his creative career, marking the first time such a large-scale retrospective has been presented globally. Following its successful debut at the FUJIKINA Fujifilm Photography Week in Beijing in October 2025, this larger-scale exhibition in Shanghai aims to offer audiences a deeper and more complete journey of visual contemplation.

Mark Power is a leading figure in contemporary British photography. His photographic journey began over 40 years ago with a distant trip. In 1981, Power traveled through Asia as a backpacker. The following year, during his first trip to southern China, the artist, who had originally studied painting, put down his brush and picked up a camera, making the lens his sole means of measuring the world.
Centered on the theme of “silence,” the exhibition precisely echoes Power’s consistent creative style. Through the calm and sustained gaze of his large-format camera, he carves out a serene visual space amid the clamor of the real world, capturing the forms and sounds of the world in stillness.

On the afternoon of May 10, Mark Power visited the X-SPACE Shanghai exhibition site, joining curator Pan Chaoqun to lead an opening tour for the audience. The two guided visitors through the gallery, pausing to explain the works, sharing in-depth insights into the exhibition’s curatorial concept and the creative thinking behind the pieces. Mark Power stated, “It’s a great honor to present such an exhibition in Shanghai. Seeing so many people here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon is truly humbling. This is also the first time I’ve brought together five major series for a single exhibition. Thank you all so much for coming!”
Mark Power will also host a special sharing session at X-SPACE Shanghai on May 16, offering a comprehensive overview of his creative career and artistic philosophy. Additionally, the “X-SPACE Master Class” workshop on “Urban Exploration,” where he will serve as a mentor for a full day, will run from May 18 to 22. During this time, Power will not only share his creative experience but also lead participants into the streets of Shanghai, teaching them how to capture images within complex urban landscapes.
