Gothenburg, Sweden and Shanghai, May 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Mölnlycke®, a world-leading provider of medical solutions and advanced wound care solutions, and Zhende Medical, a leading supplier of medical dressings and infection prevention and control products in China, today jointly announced the establishment of a joint venture to accelerate the expansion of their advanced wound care product business in China, seizing opportunities in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets. The joint venture, majority-owned by Mölnlycke, will integrate both parties’ advanced wound care product portfolios and commercial capabilities, offering Chinese healthcare professionals, patients, and consumers more advanced treatment options, enhancing treatment and care service levels, and improving patient outcomes.

Driven by factors such as rising prevalence of chronic diseases, an aging population, and increasing demand for advanced treatment solutions, China’s wound care market continues to grow, with the advanced wound dressing market size estimated at approximately RMB 3 billion*. Both parties believe that this joint venture model, pioneering the wound care market in China, will help elevate treatment standards continuously.
The joint venture will be named Mölnlycke Zhende (Shanghai) Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Mölnlycke Zhende”), combining the complementary strengths of both parties in product portfolios, channel coverage, and deep clinical expertise. Both parties are committed to building a stronger, more competitive market coverage model to drive long-term business growth. Specifically, the joint venture will integrate:
- Mölnlycke’s advanced wound care product portfolio, including leading scar care dressing Mepiform® and other solutions. This portfolio builds on Mölnlycke’s over 175 years of innovation, particularly the Safetac® patented technology;
- Zhende Medical’s advanced wound care products, including innovative medical products for treating burns, vitiligo, and other areas—such as the epidermal cell separator—and other product portfolios addressing chronic wound treatment needs;
- Additionally, the joint venture will integrate the commercial networks of Mölnlycke and Zhende Medical to cover nearly 10,000 hospitals, 200,000 pharmacies, and e-commerce channels nationwide.
For Mölnlycke, this joint venture will further advance its localization strategy in China. By combining global expertise with local capabilities, Mölnlycke will accelerate the expansion of advanced wound care solution accessibility in the Chinese market, respond more quickly to Chinese customer needs, and seize long-term growth opportunities.

Mölnlycke Zhende will operate as an independent entity, majority-owned by Mölnlycke. The company will be headquartered in Shanghai and is expected to commence operations in the third quarter of this year. Initially, it will focus on marketing advanced wound care products from Mölnlycke and Zhende Medical, with potential to expand collaboration to joint product development as the business grows. Product manufacturing for the joint venture will leverage both parties’ existing production bases, and its operations and commercial activities will adhere to the global sustainability commitments of Mölnlycke and Zhende Medical.
