Preserving the Wilderness, Columbia’s “Trail Cleanup Initiative” Upholds Environmental Commitment for Four Consecutive Years

ShanghaiApril 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On the occasion of the 57th World Earth Day, the international professional outdoor brand Columbia’s “Wantu Mountain Cleanup Initiative” once again headed into the mountains as scheduled, calling on outdoor enthusiasts to protect the pristine nature of the wilderness while exploring it. Since its launch in 2023, this year’s “Wantu Mountain Cleanup Initiative” has entered its fourth year of deep implementation. It has further expanded to 10 cities across China, including Suzhou, Hefei, Dongying, and Jinan, where it was carried out simultaneously. Together with over 400 outdoor enthusiasts, the initiative aims to integrate the “Leave No Trace” outdoor ethos into every journey into nature, safeguarding the true character of the mountains.

For the route selection, this year’s “Wantu Mountain Cleanup Initiative” chose classic mountain and ancient trail routes near urban areas, which are more prone to litter due to their popularity. These include Baishi Mountain in Baoding, Hebei, and Junzhang Ancient Trail in Wuxi, Jiangsu. In addition to a special Earth Day commemorative badge for Wantu community members, Columbia provided participants with fully biodegradable trash collection bags that meet international environmental standards, encouraging them to take away the joy of entering nature and remove pollution that doesn’t belong. With the goal of leaving no trace and keeping nature pristine, Columbia hopes to enable every participant to establish a sustainable interactive dialogue with the natural wilderness through diverse experiences, translating the “Leave No Trace” principle into concrete actions.

As an advocate and pioneer of the “sustainable hiking” concept, Columbia, under its brand proposition of “Step Into Nature, Nature Will Play,” continues to promote the harmonious coexistence of outdoor sports and ecological protection through solid products and the persistent efforts of its four-year mountain cleanup initiative. In the future, Columbia will continue to champion green outdoors as a long-term commitment, taking practical measures to protect the authenticity of the wilderness, inspiring more outdoor enthusiasts to engage in ecological conservation, and jointly building an outdoor ecosystem where humans and nature coexist.
