Also Signs Agreement to Acquire Historic Landmark Hornsey Town Hall for US$33 Million
PARIS, NEW YORK and LONDONJune 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — AMTD Group Inc., AMTD IDEA Group (NYSE: AMTD; SGX: HKB), AMTD Digital Inc. (NYSE: HKD), and AMTD Digital’s subsidiary The Generation Essentials Group (NYSE: TGE; LSE: TGE) (collectively referred to as “AMTD”) jointly announced that AMTD IDEA Group has completed the acquisition of the Dao by Dorsett Hornsey hotel for approximately US$30 million (approximately £23 million). The acquisition was completed without any external financing, including the term loan facility previously announced by AMTD IDEA Group for this transaction.
Located in the heart of Crouch End, London, the Dao by Dorsett Hornsey hotel comprises 68 serviced apartments and guest rooms with both commercial and residential attributes, including studio apartments and suites, situated within the restored Grade II listed Hornsey Town Hall complex. Following the acquisition, the hotel will be renamed AMTD Dao by Dorsett Hornsey, becoming the fifth branded hotel under AMTD’s portfolio, joining four other AMTD hotels in Hong Kong, New York, Singapore, and Malaysia. This acquisition marks another significant strategic milestone in expanding AMTD’s hotel segment asset portfolio.
Concurrently with this acquisition, AMTD IDEA Group also signed a definitive agreement to acquire the historic Hornsey Town Hall for approximately US$33 million (approximately £25 million). Originally built in the 1930s, this iconic London municipal landmark features an assembly hall, council chamber, committee rooms, a rooftop bar, a cinema, a town hall square, and multi-purpose exhibition and office spaces, serving as a long-standing arts and cultural hub in London. In February 1971, Queen performed their first London show here, with other renowned artists such as Ray Davies and The Rolling Stones also gracing its stage. Over the years, the building has been frequently used in film, television, and advertising productions, including “The Crown,” “Rupert the Bear,” “Criminal Justice,” “Spooks,” “The Hour,” “Whitechapel,” and the classic film “Bohemian Rhapsody.” To this day, the town hall regularly hosts various festive events, fostering community engagement through live concerts, food markets, craft stalls, and open-air cinema. Upon completion of the acquisition, AMTD will leverage its resources in fashion, arts, and media to introduce various arts festivals and cultural creative projects to Hornsey Town Hall, further solidifying its status as a core arts landmark in London. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the near future.
