ShaoxingJune 25, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Zhejiang Winjoy New Material Co., Ltd., a private enterprise founded in 2017, has awarded SMS group a contract for the comprehensive modernization of a second-hand six-high reversible Demag cold rolling mill. Under this agreement, SMS group will supply a complete set of modern mechanical and electrical equipment to convert the mill into an advanced 1250 mm wide six-high CVC® plus copper breakdown mill. The mill will be installed in the Hangzhou Bay Economic and Technological Development Zone in Shaoxing, China.

SMS group has determined to convert this equipment (originally commissioned in 1988 and primarily used for tinplate production) into a high-performance copper rolling line. The revamped mill will have an annual capacity of approximately 100,000 tons, capable of processing copper alloy strips with a maximum incoming thickness of 20 mm, a minimum outgoing thickness of 0.5 mm, and a strip width range of 1150 to 600 mm, thereby enhancing Winjoy’s production capacity and product flexibility. This modernization project is not only an equipment upgrade but also demonstrates SMS group’s exceptional engineering capabilities and commitment to sustainable development. The upgraded six-high mill will be equipped with an advanced CVC® plus shape control system and an efficient cooling strategy designed for rolling oil, enabling the production of high-quality copper and copper alloy strips. The revamped mill will significantly expand Winjoy’s product range and production flexibility, particularly for wider copper strips—products increasingly in demand in industries such as electronics, new energy vehicles, and high-end manufacturing.
Winjoy has commissioned SMS group to modernize its equipment as part of a full lifecycle partnership. In June 2025, SMS group received an order from Winjoy for two 650 mm six-high CVC® finishing mills, marking the beginning of a strong and evolving cooperation. The signing of this new order initiates a deeper and more enduring phase of collaboration between the two parties.
